I am looking for a good free program that will help speed up files that I want to move around. I am having a problem with Windows 10 getting stuck on the Calculating time to move files screen, for large files. Sometimes i will wait 10 minutes and it still says its calculating. I tried using Teracopy which says it will become the default utility for transfering files but it doesn't work for some reason, I have also tried Copy Handler, which said the same thing that it would be the default file transfer utility, but when i try to copy a file it does it via Windows explorer, so for some reason these programs aren't incorporating into Windows, can someone help me please?

Hello folks,

Sorry, not my forte so cannot help with any free software I`m afraid :(

Could be an underlying issue with Windows itself or an item of hardware.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

Hope you don't mind me interrupting here but I have used a number of these tools and found Roadkills unstoppable copier to work even with damaged files. Give it a try, get it HERE and select the Windows 8 Stand Alone version. Yes it will work on Win 10 and there's no installation, it's not pretty and old but it works. Just run it from the downloaded executable:)

Please continue with @phillpower2 advice if this app somehow fails:)
