Hi,
For quite a while now there has been an issue where one of the fans on my graphics card suddenly goes up to full speed (or slightly goes up and down around that). It will get stuck up there no matter what I do, restarting computer the fan stays on the whole time never slowing. If I shut down and leave my computer off for a while it will be back immediately upon starting.
Though sometimes (and only occasionally) when this happens I can start up a game and it will suddenly go back to quiet again. Then it might be good and quiet for a few days before happening again and getting stuck. Sometimes for an hour sometimes could be stuck for 2 days. It doesn't seem to be connected to temperature since the fans all work together and sometimes this can happen when first turning it on after two days off.
I've tried a few different fan control/monitoring programs and they basically always show that the fans are all running at regular speed and if I try to manually control them to 0 two of the fans will stop, then 100% two of the fans will go full power. But the third fan will not change.
I have wondered if it's just that fan dying or having some type of connection problem or sensor issue. Though the fact that sometimes just opening up a game will stop it makes me wonder if it's a software/controlling issue.
I'll also mention that when the fan is running quietly and normal I can control it along with the others to whatever speed I want.
Basically at this point I'm just desperate for something to fix it so I can work not sitting next to a loud jet engine half the time.
Also it's a GTX 980 ti and has the latest drivers from Nvidia.
Thanks for any help
