I have a 1TB Buffalo HD-PCU2 hard disk which was working perfectly.
Today for the first time I inserted it into a windows 11 system. It showed the new drive in the file explorer for a few minutes (though not accessible). After that I could not see the drive.
After that checking from the disk management, it is showing uninitiated & unallocated. Also the 1TB drive is showing up as a 2TB drive.
I tried with other machines having windows 10. But it is not working.
Can anybody help me find how I can recover the data from the drive.
The driver events are given below

My guess is your drive is gone.
You can try to update the win 11 machine with the drive attached - update the Windows 11
Update the chipset drivers
I would NOT update the bios (incase you find that answer)
Do you have a windows 7 machine - Family or friend.
Is the data on the drive important ?

You can't see the drive in Win 10, Win 11, Ubuntu - Not looking good.
I don't think you will get an answer from Reddit. Bleeping Computers gave the same advice they think your drive is shot
If you need the data then
Try this https://www.easeus.com/resource/retrieving-data-from-disk-unknown-not-initialized.html
or try this https://www.minitool.com/data-recovery/hdd-shows-as-unknown.html

I have not tried any of the above and I do not know if you will be asked to buy software from either site

Okay will try updating the drivers. Seems like it is gone. But the data is important. so trying to retrieve it in anyway.

Thanks for the support
