Hey all,

I got a pretty serious issue with the error message above.
The file is from ETS for the TOEFL Home Edition Test but it's simply not running in my laptop (HP Spectre).
I've already contacted both ETS and Microsoft but they couldn't provide any help.
Therefore, it would be awesome if anyone of you guys has an explanation/idea how to solve this issue.

Thank you so much.

So others can assist you...

Is this software that you have installed

Have you used the software before what changed

Try a restore point to a date before this happened

Try uninstalling the software then reinstalling it

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Have you tried running the program from the start menu?

What happens when you click browse?

When installing the software have you tried right clicking on the install file and selecting Run as Administrator?

Have you tried running the program directory for the directory that it is in?
from here you can also create a short cut on the desktop.

Showing that you have Avira and McAfee anti virus software installed.

Having more than one AV or Firewall installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

Windows 10 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection.

Hi,

I just removed one of the anti virus software and have already tried all the steps you describe before.

When I click browse, I end up in my downloads and running the file as an administrator is also not working.

Is there anythign else that could be the problem?

Does the program even install?

Do you have a second user that see if it will install on?
If not create one and test

Have you contacted them what did they say?

What else have you tried?

You did download the proper software that is compatible for your system?

Couple of things that can be tried is in Clean Boot then if that does not work then Safe Mode

Clean Boot

Safe Mode

When I download it, it appears like this on my desktop and then comes the error message with the missing shortcut.
So, I assume it does not even install.

When I contacted them, they said that I should use another laptop because they don"t know the issue.

Now, I'm about to try in safe mode.

Thank you for your help!

have you looked in the Program Files folder (all three of them) for something that looks like the company name or the program name of that thing you are installing?

is simply looks like the install hasn't worked - for whatever reason - incompatible, security, who knows.
you say the file has never worked on your laptop - has it worked elsewhere?

is the company who made it can't help you, that sort of says everything you need to know about them! (n)
