I have a dell optiplex 790 mini tower desktop with an intel core i7-2600 3.4ghz cpu and 4 gb of ram, and an amd radeon hd 6350 512mb graphics card. Runs windows 10 home 64 bit and has a 500gb 7200rpm hard drive. I would like to upgrade my graphics card to one with atleast 2gb or 4gb memory(depends on price) and would also like to upgrade ram and of course power supply. Any suggestions and links to the items? Thanks in advance

keep in mind the system's age and its potential life span.
Just thinking if the money/effort is better spent towards a replacement rather than upgrading.

Dell has a nasty habit of using propitiatory parts with dedicated plugs, so your first hurdle is getting a PSU in that small form factor with more watts than you already have, than getting one with the correct mobo plugs. Those TFX PSU's tend to only go to 300-350watts, which may not be enough for all your new requirements.

@ Bruce.. this is a mini tower... been trying to get more info on a proper psu that would fit into the case.

@Mars can you confirm that you actually have a (dell optiplex 790 mini tower desktop)? Also can you confirm that the psu inside the Dell now is by these dimensions... 85mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 140mm (L) / 3.3in. (H) x 5.9in. (W) x 5.5in. (L).....?

Will have to verify dimensions but I do not have the equipment to verify it so what is recommended to verify dimensions?

you will need to open the cover and, using a ruler or tape measure, get the dimensions (width, length, height) of the power supply unit.
this is needed as there is confusion as to exactly the type of case you have. perhaps attaching a screen shot of the case could help.
if you have the type of case I suspect, a normal ATX power supply won't fit. that then leaves a TFX or SFX type power supply. if you are lucky, your will be a TFX which are more common than SFX and have more wattage choices.
if it has a SFX unit than you are in for bad news - very limited range, only go as high as 350watts (approx) and are very specific in their dimensions and the cases they fit into.
and as stated previously, Dell has been known to use their own type of plugs to connect them to the motherboard.

Not heard back from you Mars, do you still require assistance or is the issue now resolved, an update would be appreciated.

Sorry for not posting a reply in so many hours, Just so you guys know and maybe can consider my response times, I'm located in Puerto Rico and my neighborhood was severely affected by hurricane Maria so I have no power, water and no internet and no cell reception at home so I can only answer when I go to a spot where theres cell reception. Going back to the topic, I have yet to check dimensions will do as soon as I can. Thanks for your understanding.

Also any ram specific that will fit me better? I think the motherboard supports 16gb max
