Hello,
I built a Windows PC two years ago and in the last month I started experiencing freezing/going to a black screen and restarting. I haven't made any new hardware changes and the only software updates made were basic windows updates or a manual GPU driver update.
I've tried a new hard drive (SSD) and I've tried testing each RAM stick with no luck. I believe testing a new hard drive rules out most software or driver issues that could have happened. Twice I've seen the BSOD with the error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (usually it would just freeze or restart though with no blue screen).
I was wondering what hardware component outside of the hard drive or RAM could be causing this issue. I removed all peripherals and external devices besides the mouse and keyboard when testing for issues. My CPU is a Ryzen 5800x, my motherboard is an Asus X570 Prime Pro, and the Graphics card is an Nvidia 3080. I've also monitored the CPU and GPU temperatures when it crashed and did not see anything dangerous (I have 10 Fans + 3 in the GPU itself). I appreciate any assistance with the issue.
