Hi everyone!

My bother and I build a PC late August and have been having a single issue ever since.
After about two hours of use, my computer will freeze. Then after a hard reset, it is not able to turn back on. It will begin to try and start up (the fans will start and the power lights up) but after five seconds it will shut down and then immediately try again. This will continue forever until I completely turn it off and leave it alone for anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple hours. After that, it will work fine until it freezes again in two hours to start the cycle back over.

Everyone I have talked to has guessed that it has to do with the power supply or that it's overheating. However, we switched out the power supply with one that we've never had issues with and installed another fan. The power supply has not changed anything and Speccy lets me know that it isn't getting too hot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K
Motherboard: MSI Z270-A Pro
GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 1060
RAM: Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4
Power Supply: Rosewill Green Series 630-Watt Active PFC Power Supply Unit
OS: Windows 10 Home
My drivers and windows are up to date.
 
process of elimination...

run the PC in Safe Mode and see if it repeats.
remove all non-essential hardware (like CD unit, external vid card etc) as see it it repeats.
change all the easy stauff (already did the PSU), like keyboard, mouse, RAM etc.
disconnect non-essential hardware, like front panel USB2/3 headers.
 
Hi Natasha, Welcome to PCHF! :)

In addition to what Bruce said, try updating your motherboards BIOS if possible to the latest version and make sure you are not overclocking any components either.

Does the computer freeze if you keep the computer in the BIOS setup window?

Also try inserting your RAM module into another DIMM slot on the motherboard and test the issue again.

What storage device do you have?
