I'm having CPU overheating issues on Fortnite/ CS-GO/Valorant, but don't have problems on games like Warzone, or GTA.

These are the only two games I'm having overheating issues with & I'm unsure how to fix it. My idol temps are 33 degrees (Celsius) but when I launch up Fortnite they will skyrocket up to 90 degrees plus(Celsius). I've stopped playing these games on my PC as I don't want to cause any permanent damage to my hardware.

I've tried capping frames at 144, lowering graphics settings, reapplying thermal paste, and even uninstalling the games to try and resolve the issue.

Has anyone had this issue, or think they know the cause?

Don't know if this will help but we have to start somewhere.
1) Can you uninstall AVG and let windows defender - can be reinstalled latter.
2) Change your power from high performance to Balanced.
High Performance is for laptops with discrete video cards.
3) You are running out of disk space you only have 8% free Windows needs more space to run efficiently.
4) If you are running MSI afterburner - Remove, can be reinstalled latter.
5) If you are overclocking ram in the bios. return the bios to defaults.

Is Steam up to date

I have 3 intake fans in the front of my pc, and 2 exhaust fans on the top of my case. I believe my GPU has three fans as well.

@PeterOz I'm currently at work, I will run through my BIOS & reset to default, and try all the other options you suggested. I will update you later this evening.

My power supply is 750W, so that shouldn't be an issue?

I just don't understand why it's only those games, it seems like it's game specific but I could be wrong. You'd think GTA V on max settings would cause problems, but my CPU runs between 40-50 on that game.

Hi Thanks for your help so far.

I have done the following.

1. Uninstalled AVG
2. Reset ram to 3200
3. Freed up some disk space on my windows
4. Changed power settings to balanced

I tried loading up the game again & I'm still having issues.

Power supply should be fine for the gpu.

What case do you have?

Pulling off the side panel and pointing a fan towards the CPU would be a good test.

This might point to specific profile settings either in Steam, your video drivers, overlays, ect.
I also saw where you need to turn vsync "on" in Fortnite settings.
 
agree, it sounds like a game specific issue.
my first thought was also blowing a fan straight into the open chassis, and while this would be a worthy test, it is sadly only a band-aid solution.
but hey, until the cause is found, we'll take a band-aid solution.

gaming is not my area - it's the sole reason I got a PlayStation, removes all these threads regarding FPS, temps, GPU's, etc - sorry guys! :)

Thanks everyone for the help so far, I tried turning V-Sync on Fortnite and unfortunately no luck.

I could try removing the glass to see if that would help.

I have resolved the issue.

I had to remove the front portion of my case where the intake fans were covered. The intake fans were clogged with dust.

This part wasn't visible until I fully removed the front portion of the case, I'm stupid lol.
