Couldn't get expected FPS in Warzone, upgraded GPU and no improvement.

I'm posting as I've exhausted all my options, read every post, tried every settings combo, installed a super loud GPU and even bought a 165hz screen which isn't being utilized. I'm hoping someone can help me fix this so that I haven't wasted my money.

Problem:

I was previously getting 70-80fps (all low settings except texture resolution, which I have set to high) with the RTX 2060 Super OC.

I recently upgraded to the 3070 and I'm now getting between 70-90fps which doesn't seem right.

What I've tried

So far, I've unlocked ultimate performance power mode, changed the config file to be running on 6 cores, followed this video to a tee:
External link removed

On Heaven Benchmark my 2060 averaged 127fps, my 3070 gets 200fps.

While warzone is running (second screen to check so it's still open) I'm using 80% CPU and 15% GPU.

Benchmark(s):

My system:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 6-core.
  • GPU: ASUS RTX 2060 Super OC // MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2x
  • Ram: Thermaltake 3200mhz 2 x 8GB.
  • MOBO: Asus Prime b550.
  • PSU: 650W, can't recall the brand.
  • Monitor: 1440p/165hz. (Playing on 1440p).
Does anyone know what could be going on?
Willing to paypal you a few beers worth for a fix!

Even if it is a good brand it is not enough for your new GPU, we need to know the exact model name or number of the PSU and how old it is.

If the problem is only with Warzone and no other game you will need to open a ticket with the provider of the game.

Thanks for your response.

I found the invoice and it's a Thermaltake Smart 600W 80+ Gold Power Supply (OEM).

I wonder if that would be the issue, although I don't know if my RAM and SSD results in the benchmark are something to worry about or not.

I just plugged in my parts to the Outervision calculator and it came in at 440W, recommended a 650W PSU.

Also I forgot to respond to your other point, the only game I play is Warzone but I could try benchmarks etc. Unigine Heaven was at 200fps which I believe was good, but then the CPU benchmarks said it ran poorly.

We can see from your results that your hardware is fine atm so the problem is only with Warzone.

Question for you, if you were to use a PSU that Outervision calculator told you was enough and as a result your nice new and very expensive MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2x died as a result of it who would you think would be liable for replacing the GPU, the Outervision calculator, MSI or your good self, I suspect that you know the answer already.

Which power supply do you need?

Thermaltake have not made a decent PSU for years and the Smart range is no different, have even seen them referred to as Smart bombs, there is a Toms thread here that has the same PSU and the helper there supports what has been advised here.

Thank you. So the RAM and SSD not performing as expected in the benchmark isn't something to worry about?

I understand but I've seen multiple videos of the same set up reaching 130+ fps so I thought it may not be Warzone.

I understand regarding the power supply, is this a safety/component thing or do you think it could be causing the performance issues?

I'm not sure why you are disappointed with 70-90 fps. Is this on the same low settings? I don't play warzone but have top titles and I am happy with 70-90 fps on any game. Even Microsoft flight Sim plays at this level and not higher. (RTX 3080)

No and fwiw you may want to read this thread here it saves me a whole load of typing :)

We have no control over how a game runs on a computer and even more so when the said game relies on the games programmers servers, the issue is strictly Warzone related and the only two things that we can suggest is 1: you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game and 2: you open a ticket with the games provider, expect a wait for any reply as you will be joining a long list of complainants I`m afraid.

Regarding your PSU question, I will reiterate the below from my reply #5;

Short version, you are playing Russian roulette with that PSU.

The main thing would be value. My PC was $1300 (now add another $600 difference for the upgraded GPU and $200 for the PSU). I chose this above the new xbox as everywhere points to getting 110-130FPS with the old gpu and higher with the new one. My friend bought the new xbox and is getting a constant 120fps on the same monitor. Now I've committed to using the PC at home for work and it's come in handy for high intensity tasks so it's not a total waste, but still the main purpose was to play Warzone with an optimal experience.

For reference, from internet/youtube research I think my old set up was supposed to get around 40-60 fps on flight simulator.

Thanks again for all the help. At least I don't have to do anything with RAM and SSD.

I've bought this PSU: Corsair RM850x 850W 80 Plus V2 Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (Normal) which the lower model (RM750x) was suggested in the link you shared. Hoping it doesn't matter if I went a bit higher.

I've also swapped my GPU for a different 3070 (ASUS TUF Gaming with three fans). Will see how it goes.

I'll update this if the PSU/GPU make any difference then close the thread.

A new PSU was required but swapping such a high end GPU again was rather drastic and I`m afraid to say will not change a thing regarding Warzone FPS if the issue is with the games install or the battle net servers which you just may find are the real cause of the issue/s.

Good luck with it in any event.

PSU in and new GPU. Reinstalled the game but even more confused now.

I'm having the same issues and I can't really understand why friends with similar set ups aren't having them.

From the outset the only hardware weakness in your PC was the PSU and the rest of your hardware fine, this left the game installation or the servers, you have reinstalled the game but the problem persists, this only leaves the games servers or your internet service.

Best test that you can do is ask one of your friends to set your rig up at their place, if all ok there you know that it is your internet connection causing the problem.

That makes sense. I've just moved house so I'll rule out internet however I've just played and monitored my CPU temp and it's hitting upwards of 95 degree, reaching a max of 100 so far. Could this be throttling it?

Yes it would be throttling

If you did 100c in your cpu temps, then this is too high for this cpu. Either clean, repaste or get a better cooler recommended

What did you use to monitor the temps,

I've just moved house so I'll rule out internet

Sorry but I`m at a loss because if you can comfortably rule anything at all out you wouldn`t need to post on tech assistance forums.
