Solved Can't rename folder in File Explorer

If I left click a folder in File Explorer, and then right click , and then choose More options the cursor jumps to another folder. There are several articles on Google, but none address this problem. Suggestions, Please. Thanks, mike
 
Right click on the Start Button, choose Task Manager. Scroll down and find Window Explorer, right click on it and choose restart.

If this doesn't help, we'll need you to publish a Speccy.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:​

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
Also include your PSU specifications- Brand, Make, Model, etc.
 
I attached the Speccy file above. I just noticed that when I right click on the Folder, there is an icon at the top of my choices that says Rename. If I click on that icon, I can then Rename the folder, the cursor does not go to another. So I guess I can do it that way.
 
I found another workaround. After I left click on the folder that I want to rename. if I hold the Shift key down first, and then right click, I get a menu that has Rename in it., without having to chose more options etc. I can then choose Rename, and all is good.
 
OK, nice find.

the Speccy report had lots of gaps, where it couldn't get any info from the WMI service that talks to the hardware's firmware.
for example, the memory and processor details are missing.

you could try a repair install of Windows, keeping all settings and see if that works.
or a complete wipe and reload from scratch, but as you have a work-around, that would be a big hammer approach for a little problem solution.

or you could try these from an elevated command prompt;
  • chkdsk c: /r
  • sfc /scannow
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
and see if they find any system corruption.
