Hi Folks
I PC running Windows 11 won't run any online games via Xbox and Windows 11.
PC specs are as follows:
MSi B450 Tomahawk Max
AMD Ryzen 5 4.2GHz
32GB DDR4 RAM
Sapphire Radeon RX7600 pulse 8192MB Graphics Card
500GB SSD
1000GB HDD

So in theory I have more than enough computing power to play any online game. All drivers are fully updated as are windows updates. However, when I download for example Forza Horizon 4 & start to play the game begins to load up & then crashes, the same happens for Halo ( all versions ). I'm lost I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong if anything at all. I built the PC myself & so far have had no issues with it but the gaming issue is really bugging me so any help would really be appreciated.
 
I've done a full clean fresh install of win 10 64 bit & once installed I went offline & installed the drivers from a USB stick in the following order, MB chipset then SATA then GPU followed by AMD High Definition Audio Device, LAN etc. So I had a nice clean install.
On a previous install I was constantly getting BSOD's such as:

Kmode exception not handled
Page fault in non page area
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
attempted write to read only memory
Kernel security check failure
Driver ran over stack buffer
Bad pool caller
System service exception

So a fresh install Win 10 was warranted.
 
I'm so sorry Veeg my PSU specs are as follows:

Bitfenix Formula Series 550W 80 Plus Gold PSU
 
The PSU - 550W is the minimum requirement for the GPU.

Anytime you are building a gaming rig, you should at least go with the recommended PSU. When they say minimum expect minimum performance.

I'm not trying to be smug, just factual. I know economics (I'm on a budget) comes into play but the PSU is the last place to cut corners, or you'll have issues such as you're experiencing.

If you have a friend or family that you can evaluate another more powerful PSU, that's where I'd start.


You can also try turning off any XMP settings that may be applied either within the BIOS or via any AMD software. Turn off any other boosters you may have running and see if that helps.

It also says your power plan is set to AMD Balanced, change that to just Balanced.

Your PSU is an issue.

Minimum 550W or greater power supply with 12V output > 40A. Minimum recommended system power supply wattage is based on a PC configured with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor plus typical power requirements of other system components. Your system requirements may differ. GD-223.

Hi guys thank you very much for your input. I didn't think for 1 minute that the PSU had such an impact on my system but point taken. I up to last week had a RX 580 GPU installed which also had the same problems so I bought the RX 7600. I will invest in a new PSU & I will also amend any power plans & report back.

I'm with the others on this one, power supplies are tough if you don't know what you need- here are some good resources for making a decision.

PSU Tier List
Which PSU Do You Need?

Look for 80+ Gold Units with 10+ yr warranties.


Two things to note before you buy since as Phill mentioned previously- your PSU 'should' be adequate.

If you have an older display card to try, I would plug that in and see if the crashing stops, I know you said your RX 580 has the same issue, maybe borrow something from a friend/family member if possible.

If that is not possible, buy from somewhere with a good return policy- there's no sense wasting money if it doesn't fix your problem.
 
Hi folks,

I was looking at the following PSU as an option it was reasonably priced from Overclockers,

Kolink Enclave 600W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply.​

It should arrive tomorrow morning so I'll give it a blast & go from there. OC are generally quiet good with returns so if nothing changes than I will return it, but either way I will report back.

p.s. Phil I am really sorry I was away for a few days with family so didn't reply to the threads. Glad to hear your participating again.

Going back to your almost last reply to my message I've had a stable PC with all drivers & windows updates, up to date. So far so good.
Attached is an up to date Speccy snapshot of my PC profile to give you an idea as to where I'm at


I have the new PSU coming tomorrow but as I have a stable PC I'm hoping that the Bitfenix 550W that I currently have, will be enough; but I'm prepared to give the new 600W a try. Do you advise me to try it out or leave the 550W in place ??

Hi

Just wanted to run something by you guys. All along I've been running my PC, PS5 & Sony Surround through my Samsung 43" UHD 4K HDR Smart TV. The recommended native resolution is 3840 x 2160 which leaves me with a 1 inch border around the screen so I've been using 4096 x 2160 which solves the border issue. The refresh rate is set at 59.940 Hz see attached Jpeg. What I have tried is to lower the resolution to 3200 x 1880 & then to 3072 x 1728 to see if I could play Forza Horizon 5.

For the 1st time the game fully loaded & I got as far as the options menu where I lowered the refresh rate to 60Hz & I reduced the graphics to a lower level its at this stage that the game crashes & I'm back to my normal desktop.

I'm wondering if the issue is that I'm using a 43" TV as opposed to a monitor as a display. I've always used a Smart TV be it Sony or Samsung & never once given a thought to buying a monitor specifically for my PC.

What do you guys think is my issue down to me using a 43" UHD 4K HDR Smart TV ??

Hi guys

Windows update began running in the background & all of a sudden I started to have BSOD'S on my PC. These are some of the BSOD'S that I have had in the past 20 minutes

System service exception
Irql not less or equal
KERNEL AUTO BOOST LOCK ACQUISITION WITH RAISED IRQL
KERNEL LOCK ENTRY LEAKED ON THREAD TERMINATION
KERNEL MODE HEAP CORRUPTION

I couldn't even get past the password screen to get to my desktop so I've switched off for now. Some of these BSOD'S I've never heard of so I'm going to investigate using my tablet but I could do with some advise. This all goes back to what I was discussing with Phil where I would have a stable system for a day or two & once I began installing browsers or email clients I would end up with BSOD'S. There is something fundamentally wrong with my PC that needs diagnosing & I'm hoping, praying that one of you fine members will be able to help me.
