When trying to log in to the user profile I get the message "The User Profile Service failed to logon. User Profile cannot be loaded"
I logged on to another profile that has administrator status as I thought I'd try just changing the password but was worried by the statement that "You are resetting the password for C. If you do this, C will lose all personal certificates and stored passwords for Websites or network resources"
The Dell Studio PC with Vista OS is 8 - 9 years old. I've been using the same password throughout. There are 5 other users, all log in OK.
I've no idea what the significance is of 'loosing a personal certificate'; the password thing will be irritating but not critical but I would certainly not want to loose all the bookmarks I have on that profile with Firefox.
As an administrator is there any way I can access the profile without a password?
If I change the password might I still be denied access? If not will anything other than certificates and passwords be affected?
