BSOD happened so much that windows won't let me sign in anymore and it still keeps crashing.

No, I don't wanna go there and loose everything in my documents. Will a reset keeping files and settings keep everything on my C drive? If so how do I do that?
 
Try Evan's suggestion first and see if you have any luck.

If you do want to reset and keep everything, yes, it does keep all your personal files and software and will reload Windows.
to start the process, click Start and literally start typing reset, that'll find a match for Reset This PC.
click that and select the first box Get Started.
then choose Keep My Files.

I hope it keeps all the 3rd party programs I downloaded. I'm currently transferring around 70 GB's of data from my C drive to an external just in case. I'll give it a reset after and we'll see how it goes!
 
Okay so, It crashed during the reset process as well and then it automatically undid all the changes and so nothing happened. Someone else on another forum told me that this is happening because the ram in this thing is incompatible with the system. If that's the case then why was it running absolutely fine until yesterday? I've been using it with the incompatible ram just fine for like 4 months now.
 
hmmm... got me thinking now on whether it does keep all the preloaded software.
haven't done a 'keep everything' reset for ages, just go for the big hammer and 'keep nothing'.

pretty sure it does keep programs though - but maybe someone can confirm that! @PeterOz @Pyro
 
I'm pretty sure that deletes all software as well, only files are kept.

Yeah it's definitely a memory issue. I ended up copying my c drive to an external and did a complete reset and it still crashed.

Then I used one stick of ram and it crashed with both of them in one slot but it worked perfectly fine om both sticks when they were in the other slot. So the issue is a bad ram slot?

What's the solution now?

Could you also include the power supply specs E.g Cooler Master 850W Gold V2 NOT E.g 850w
 

It's a laptop so the power supply unit is the battery probably.

And I think the ram is working fine in the primary slot and not the secondary slot. The secondary slot is labeled B on the motherboard while the primary slot doesn't have a label. It's working fine in the one without the label which is where I have it now at the time of the snapshot.
 
are both ram sticks same make and model.?
It looks like the ram is not suited for the lt.
What is the serial number of the hp please.
If you use either stick of ram in the primary slot does it still boot?

Both sticks work the laptop just fine in the primary slot. It's the secondary slot that's causing problems. The laptop does boot but then crashes with bsods.
The sticks are not the same make one is Samsung and the other is Micron but both are 1600MHz and look practically the same with the same number of chips.

If the ram isn't suited for the laptop in the first place then isn't it weird how it was able to work just fine up until now?? I'm really confused.
 
The hard part is working out if it is the ram or the slot.
Do you still have the original ram?

Some laptops will not work with ram in the secondary slot by itself.
The only way to troubleshoot is to borrow some ram that is identical.
Do you have a friend or family member you can borrow 2 sticks from?

An update could cause an issue.
 
I don't have the original ram. But I'll go grab the appropriate sticks when I have the time and then we'll see if it was the ram or the slot.

I did reset the computer hence rolling back all updates. So, I guess we can rule out the possibility of an update causing an issue here. So, then what was it?? Why all of a sudden??

Aye, well thank you for all the help!! I'll be sure to update once I'm able to test the appropriate ram. Gonna be a while before my schedule is able to free up time for that though.
