Hi. I've been enjoying some Sony bluetooth headphones. Until last night, while using them bluetooth vanished from my laptop and they stopped working. I managed to find bluetooth in device manager under 'show hidden devices' and following instructions online deleted the BT adapter but on restart my laptop has not re-installed the drivers and now bluetooth doesnt show anywhere in device manager or anywhere else.
Could someone please help it's very frustrating.

More info about your PC will help us diagnose.

Download Speccy.

https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download

How to post a Speccy shot 😀

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Download and install the BluetoothDriverInstaller_x64.exe this tool will usually find a decent generic blue tooth driver for your machine.
hI, thanks but I am getting the following error.

No unconfigured bluetooth devices found.
You should uninstall your existing bluetooth driver (stack) and reboot your computer.
It is recommended to unplug (or switch off) your bluetooth adapter during uninstall process.

If you still get this error, click "View hardware configuration" bellow and e-mail results to us. This will help us to fix the problem.

You may also click "Check for updates" link to see if there is an updated version of Bluetooth Driver Installer available.

Create a restore point prior to this.

Open elevated command prompt and copy and paste the following into it.

Code:
powershell -Command "Enable-ComputerRestore -Drive 'C:\'"
wmic.exe /Namespace:\\root\default Path SystemRestore Call CreateRestorePoint "PCHF", 100, 7
exit

Download DeviceRescue
Click View Show Devices Not Present.
See if you can locate your Bluetooth drivers with this tool and Uninstall.
Reboot.

It doesn't like the command?

Ok. You need to right click run as admin, if that does not work.

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop.
Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator.
When the program opens check mark Select All Then hit GO
Please post the log in your next reply. Attach or copy and paste, whatever is easier for you.

You might also try a system restore point to when it was working fine.

Try this restore point.

Might be a good idea to save any important things to a usb in case they are erased, typically system restore does not erase your files but better to be safe.
