I recently ran into a issue about my gaming pc has a black screen right after I boot, I’ve looked into solutions to this and none of them work, Ctrl alt delete doesn’t work, booting into safe mode doesn’t get me anywhere. I decided I was tired of this and reseted the pc completely, but now I can’t open settings, I can’t download anything, and when I turn off the pc the black screen pops up again, idk if reinstalling windows would help but I would love some response because I am very frustrated. Thanks

Hi @igobrian12 and welcome to PCHF :)

It sounds like your Windows is corrupted. The best option, if you don't mind losing everything, is re-installing Windows. They did release version 1909, so I would download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and burn it onto a USB drive and do it that way.

yep, this was what I was going to do next I just wanted some confirmation that is was gonna work, thank you for updating me so fast! will definitely be coming here for my future issues! Edit: will update when I do this.

There’s also a bug with Windows which is casing black screens before & after log in, more so before log in that can last a few minutes.
How long have you left the black screen?

You can try an in-place repair by downloading the media creation tool, running this & choosing to upgrade now.
Then run Windows update for any remaining downloads.
