I've recently bought a gaming Laptop since switching over from console but im having issues with my headset. it seems to be slightly different from each game but one thing always causes it. when i use game bar to play with friends still on Xbox my audio goes awful. very distant and makes gaming unplayable. friends sound fine its just the game audio. if i play apex legends just selecting the input audio to my headset rather than the laptop microphone causes this issue but i don't seem to have this issue on another game i've tried this on.

I've tried 3 different headsets, 2 different games and im still getting this issue.

playing on my own and not using my microphone the audio is fine but unless i use the laptop microphone in game chat and never use game bar im stuck with this bad audio making any game unplayable.

any help would be greatly apricated as for the last week all researching on how to fix this, its just left a sour taste in my mouth for pc gaming and i would love just to be able to play with friends. thanks.

What are the brands, make and models of the headsets in question?
How do they connect to the laptop, wireless, USB, old school 3.5mm jack or bluetooth?

It’s a razer Kaira pro via wireless Bluetooth. I have tried with Apple air pods too to see if it was just my headset or something more. Same problem on both

Looking through the interwebs, it is apparent a lot of people are having similar issues. The common denominator is the Xbox interface whether through Windows or the Xbox itself.

Another issue I saw was the headset randomly connecting to a person's phone. They turned off BT on their phone to fix it.

Because of the cost versus needing to troubleshoot out of the box, they opted to return it and get another brand.

1 source Read through these and try some of the fixes.

Let us know.

Are there any in game settings for audio?
I’m not an xBox gamer so don’t know which settings to suggest.
Is the headset connecting via inbuilt Bluetooth or does it have a USB dongle?
Is it the version specific for xBox?
https://www.razer.com/console-headsets/razer-kaira-pro-for-xbox It seems there’s a button for changing the in game audio.
Have you downloaded the Razer Headset Setup for Xbox app from the MS App Store? This is for audio settings amongst others.

I’ve posted on another forum and they have said this.

“Windows can't address BT bandwidth properly, and so all BT headsets essentially have two different operating modes. One mode for high bandwidth stereo audio with headset mic disabled, and another mode for voice chat where the audio bandwidth is dropped significantly in order to be able to handle the headset mic audio, which I believe is what you experienced as it makes the audio quality terrible.”

Does this seem the likely issue as it does make sense from my side.

So, all the 3 headsets you have tried are Bluetooth?
Any chance of trying the good old fashioned USB type?
