Hello,
I have a Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop. Model is GL704GW-PS74. I bought it brand new in 2019. I just recently upgraded to Windows 11 a couple months ago. I have been having a battery issues as of late, and I am not sure if it's because of the age of the battery, or because of something else going on.
I do mostly run the laptop on the power supply. I have the 'My Asus' app that keeps the battery at 60% while plugged in. It's an option that says "Maximum lifespan mode".
So, if I charge the battery up to 100%, I can run the laptop a good hour or so without any issues on the battery. If I don't charge it to 100%, it's random as to how long it will run on battery, but it's consistent.
For a while now, I have noticed the battery will not stay charged up after I do a full shutdown. I can charge it to the 60% and go to boot it up 5 hours later, and it will boot up, but shortly after, it dies. I have to plug it in and re-boot. But the thing is, after I charge it up for a while, I can unplug it from the power supply and it stays running for 45 mins to an hour, depending on how much it was charged.
Is there a reason why the battery would be draining after I do a full Windows shut down? I have gone into the BIOS and turned off "fast boot" and the went into control panel.power options and turned off Windows fast boot options as suggested on a couple articles I ready, but neither seems to fix the issue. Is there something else I should be looking into? Is it strictly a battery issue?
I know it's a couple years old and I have been using it mostly plugged in and this all could cause battery issues, but I can't understand why I can use it on battery after I charge it for a bit, but it drains after I do the full shutdown. any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
