My son is having a problem playing a game he downloaded, each time he attempts to load it brings up a error message saying: the exception illegal instruction, an attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction (0xc000001d) occurred in the application 0x00007ff69FOE1185 any help would be massively appreciated all other games and programs work fine we have uninstalled an reinstalled the game but with no change

The game is destiny 2, it worked fine until an in game update now he gets the error code I mentioned before, the game runs through steam I believe

After resetting his PC he now no longer receives the error code but the game will still not run

Lets try a clean boot see if that makes a difference.

Nothing comes up no error code now, the loading symbol appears by the mouse cursor then after about 20 seconds the option to start the game becomes available again we will try the clean boot now.

Tried the clean boot, shows that the game is running for 10 seconds but does not load still

Have also tried uninstalling steam re-downloaded it all but still shows it running for a few secs but the game does not load is there anything else we can try

Has the game been downloaded/installed to the C drive or another partition/drive?
Some games will only work when installed on the C drive.
Have you posted on the Destiny 2 Steam forum? It seems there’s other with the same errors.
The thread: ‘Destiny 2 Wont even start’
The devs are aware of the problem & A supposed fix was released but it didn’t fix the problem.

I will check where it is saved, I haven’t seen the forums but I will check and post on there to, thank you

I have the Steam app on my iPad so can access it from there.

It isn’t saved on the c drive, will try that,
