Hi guys, I have an Acer Nitro 5 (18 months), the last three weeks or so its begun to randomly shut down and boot itseful back up again. I'm at my wits end as I feel like I've tried everything, and I really don't want to have to buy a new laptop...these are all the things I've done to try and sort it out, if anyone has any suggestions that would be great, or if it sounds like I should just bite the bullet and buy a new laptop let me know. This is what I have tried:

  1. Updated BIOS
  2. Hard drive (which turned out to be damaged) replaced with SSD
  3. Lowered CPU running speed from 100% to 80%
  4. Two Windows updates (which made the laptop laggy and awful)
  5. I then tried to uninstall the updates which I couldn't do
  6. Scanned for viruses (none)
  7. Used AVG cleanup
  8. Defragmented disk
  9. Updated drivers
  10. Cleaned fans and vents
  11. Had new thermal paste added
I feel like I have exhausted all options unless there's something I'm missing? I've never had such an unfixable problem before in a laptop and this one isn't even 2 years old, it's so frustrating. It's impossible to play any games.

Hello

Did you check those temps, after the restart? Can you give us info on those MS updates?

To uninstall those Win updates try this..
An example...

Open the Start menu and click the gear-shaped Settings icon. Go to Update & security > View Update History > Uninstall updates. Use the search box to find “Windows 10 update KB4535996.” Highlight the update then click the “Uninstall” button at the top of the list.
