Lets see what is starting up with your machine.

Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program, click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries on the Logon Tab in your next reply.

Evan Have got a new adaptor and will install (hopefully) tomorrow
please find autorun(login) as requested:-

Hi Evan
Update
New adapter working fine and a realy fast connection and stable
Have unticked the items on Autorun login as requested though and from restart to Welcome /password screen is still 23 mins
Then PC at moment working fine and dandy!
Defraggler report says HDD iealth good --but could this be a hardware prob rather than Win 10 bootup
Not being as conversant with PC`s as you seems strange to me that only startup is slow and then (now youve helped sort out some of the Win 10 upgrade gliches ) its working fine once Im logged in with password etc (scratches head!)

Instead of unchecking those items via the checkboxes, you can highlight each item in Autoruns and click on the Red X at the top of the window which says delete which will permanently remove the entry.

After you remove those entries, click Start< type msconfig in the Start search box and click enter to open the System Configuration Utility. After that window opens, click on the Services tab and then check the box that say hide all Microsoft services. After that's done, take a screenshot of the 3rd party services that show in the Services window and post a screenshot of that information in your next reply.

Your screenshot should look like this:

Hi Evan
Presume that using the red cross delete only deletes them at "startup" ??

Yes that is correct.

Click Start< type Services in the Start search box and hit enter to open the Services window. After the services window opens double click on each service that I list below and then set the startup type to disabled.

All the Adobe Services
AMD External Events Utility
Sentinel LDK License Manager
LiveUpdate
MediatekRegistryWriter
Rapport Management Service
Realtek WLanU
Realtek DHCP Service
RunSwUSBServiceLayer
Wondershare Driver Install Service

After those listed services are set to disabled, reboot the computer. Once the computer reboots, open Autoruns again and this time click on the Scheduled Tasks tab and post a screenshot of your scheduled tasks in Autoruns in your next reply.

EVAN If I view thread on tablet -and just click on them they enlarge to full screen one by one - and then I can zoom in
But if you have problems pal I will resend ok

Thanks Crackerjack

If you have a backup of your data you could try a CLEAN install of Windows 10 which is always better than an upgrade. ALWAYS.

I am 100% with you on this, or at least a repair of the OS.

With an in place upgrade you are bound to have many issues. I would suggest a repair install. Or perhaps installing fresh.

Usually it is best to install fresh rather than upgrade.
You can also grab a fresh copy of windows 10 with this tool.
Then might be best to perform a repair install.
Or if you wish to downgrade.
There are copies of windows 7 here.
Just make certain to grab your Product Key.

Tools possibly needed.

Thanks for advice fellas Will give this a try - one last throw of the dice eh? If no success then will spend some time backing up info /files etc It's just the thought of reinstalling specialised engineering and cad software with all the relevant Dongol/ passwords/ authorisation process calls etc that doesn't fill me with enthusiasm WIsh I'd never heard of win10 at this moment in time or they'd got it sorted before the free upgrade time expired An absolute pain in the ***** as far as I'm concerned But many thanks for your efforts Even if not successful on this occasion very grateful!

Evan may offer you more suggestions, it is just better to do a repair .... then if that fails a clean install. I rarely see an upgrade go smooth.

Hi Mal So darn annoying though! The upgrade from win 7 to 10 on my wife's and my son's PC (which are only used for day to day use went ok!) Then on mine which has work /business software on - an absolute pain! Life can be unfair eh?[emoji29]
