Solved Weird Sound Coming from my pc

Hello! I’m new here and really need help.
Sometime ago I started hearing this weird beeping sound from the inside of my pc. It comes occasionally, especially when i work on some music projects, since I’m a musician, but it also happens when i do other stuff on my pc like transferring data or whatever. Not really when I’m online. It’s a short sound and it’s kinda like a beep but i also can hear something like a mechanical sound after the beep like when you try to run a vhs cassette tape or something and it lasts for a short time and then nothing happens. I had this problem before, went to a local computer technician, he installed new win 10 and did a clean up of the inside because my pc was really dirty. It worked amazing for a month but a couple days ago it started happening again. It slows donw my pc for a couple od seconds and then nothing. Works normal after that. Pc boots normally and other than those few seconds of maybe slowing down when i transfer data or work on my music, noting seems to be a problem. I have ssd and hdd and both are healthy. When i backup data, and that sound happens, transfersing goes to 0mb/s and then it goes back to normal. It’s weird. This guy told me it may be a problem with a connection between a mother board and a hdd, or maybe something with power supply . I don’t have any experience with pc hardware and this is all really annoying to me. My computer is my income. English is not my first language so forgive me if I’m not being 100% clear 😇

if you can make that sound happen on demand, can you record it and post the audio file for us?
and describe what program you are using at the time and the hardware being used - like if it happens when backing up, what software do you use, and what drives?

I can’t make it happen on demand but i recorded it a while back when it was really going off like crazy before I gave my pc to get checked out. It’s an audio file on my phone. I tried to attach it but apparently audio or video files are not supported here. I’ll try doing it from my pc later. Thank you for the replay. I use fl studio for my music along with a lot of different plugins, and when doing backup I use regular usb external hard drive to copy my files from partition D. I have ssd partition c and a hdd d where I store most of my files

and can you tell if the noise is coming from the external drive?
or from within the PC?

as to uploading the file, you may need to use an intermediary, one of those online sharing services like PhotoBucket and the like.

It’s coming from the computer and it’s not directly related to file transferring. It’s more like when the cpu is working hard… but not always… I can’t explain it haha it’s really weird. The biggest problem is that it makes my work harder since sometimes my program crashes. And it started happening a fiew days ago, along with that annoying sound. That sounds like your hard drive is on its way out, ever heard of the click of death caused by a flaky actuator.

Back up your data asap and then post back and one of us will help you to check the HDD.

I backed up my drive last night, cause I also suspected that something with the drive is not ok. The weird thing is… last time it did that this guy that fixes my pc said that he did a umber of tests on both ssd and hdd and everything looks normal. My computer worked amazing for a month after that. I also did dick check using crystal diskcheck and it said that both drives are good… do you have some other way for me to check? I would gladly do it…

He also said that it may be a problem with a connection between a mother board and a hdd. I have a suspicion that this started happening after a power outage, also windows update was around that time. Idk what to thing anymore 😂

Oh, and i forgot to mention that sometimes when i plug in my usb drive in the back of the computer where my external audio inteface for music and my keyboard are plugged in next to it, there is no sound coming from the speakers nor headphones... my music stuff is plugged in the normal usb port, and i use usb 3,0 port to plug in my external usb drive. it comes on only when i reboot my audio interface by turning it off and on again by unpluging the usb cable

as a quick test, open up the case and remove the power cable from the HDD.
since you have a SSD, I'll assuming the OS is installed on that, so the PC should still boot, you'll jjust not have access to whatever is installed on the HDD making that noise.

but with that HDD disconnected, you should no longer hear the click of death and the PC should not crash (all depends on what is stored on that drive).
