Solved Video card / monitor resolution

My monitor is LG M2780D, 27 inch, resolution 1920x1080. The video card I'm looking to get is GTX 980 Ti. Card's Maximum Digital Resolution 5120x3200. Maximum VGA Resolution 2048x1536. Can I still achieve resolutions above 1920x1080 or do I need to upgrade to a different monitor?

Btw, Nvidia's site says GTX 980 Ti VGA Resolution 2048x1536 but there's no VGA port on the card's interface... or do they mean if I'm using a monitor with VGA?

If your monitors maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 then that is the maximum resolution that can be displayed on it. Both DVI and VGA can display that resolution but it's preferable to use a DVI cable connection where possible.

Shame my current LG monitor can't do higher resolutions. It's got AV INPUTS/OUTPUTS. Good if I one day want to connect VHS player. But my goal is maxing out Crysis' graphics capabilities or close to it, so I will be looking for a 4K monitor. Thank you gus, phillpower2.
