I'm having a weird problem and I'm not sure if it's hardware or software related. At random times, all of my USB devices will stop responding. Generally, when this happens, they stop for about 1 or 2 seconds and then resume operation. Windows will make the disconnect/re-connect sound. This is slightly annoying, but I can deal with it. But sometimes they will go into what I like to call the "deep freeze" and never start back up. This requires me to hard reset. The computer itself does NOT freeze. The USB devices just quit working.
During one of these deep freeze episodes, I made some observations. The optical light under the mouse remained on, even though I could not use it. Similarly, the keyboard lights were still on despite me not being able to type or toggle the caps lock, number lock, etc. on. I then took my mouse and tried every port on the back (AND front) of my computer. These are a mixture of USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The windows audio notification would sound off and the lights would turn off/re-illuminate upon connecting/disconnecting, but I was never able to use the mouse again until I reset. I also tried connecting a different mouse during this and the same behavior happened.
I'm running on an I7-3770 CPU with a Biostar TZ77XE4 motherboard. The OS is Windows 10. I've tried formatting and reinstalling Windows, but the issue still occurs. I'm not really sure what to do. This computer was expensive when I built it, and I really don't want to replace the components if it's a software issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT - I just checked Event Viewer and could not find anything off in the administrative logs prior to my forcing a reset.
Thanks!
