Upgrading Storage Drive

According to MSI you're fine to have one NVMe M.2 SSD, The standards are backwards compatible, so the only 'issue' will be that 990 Pro will run at gen 3 speeds instead of gen 4.

If you want to save some money, you could look at a 970 Evo Plus- a 2TB drive is around 30% cheaper and there shouldn't be a notable performance difference unless you plan on transferring tons of files constantly.
