update HP PAVILION laptop?

I got this laptop less than a year ago and it always slow despite what's running
It is HP Pavillion Laptop 14-ce2xxx Product number 6ME71UA#ABA
I don't know if it is worth it to upgrade the hard drive or get a new laptop?

Games being slow we can understand because as previously mentioned the notebook does not have the specs for gaming, 1.6GHz CPU, integrated graphics and the RAM only being a single 8GB stick means that it is only capable of working in single channel at 1333MHz and not the 2666MHz that it would work at in dual channel.

Being a brand name computer you may have a load of HP bloatware that is slowing things down, we can check this + see if the notebook can be upgraded to 16GB of RAM, you would then need to consider whether or not you are willing to invest funds into any upgrades.

Fwiw, an SSD would speed up boot times and access to programs etc but it will not help with gaming due to there being no dedicated GPU present.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
 
I can add that HP has a very good support site, where you can find the Maintenance and Service Guide for your notebook.
Through this you can find detailed descriptions for disassembling your system, and for maximum memory support.

This way you can make a more educated guess about your upgrading options.
