Solved Thunderbird Mail Import

Greeting everyone. My first post.

Downloaded Thunderbird mail three days ago and have been trying to import mail from Hotmail. I manage just fine until I receive the following message, “Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, User Name or Password”



Am not an expert and tried everything I can find. Help!!!!

It would help if you gave the version of Thunderbird you are using.
The only answer we can give you is the same as Thunderbird.
Your username= your Hotmail address
Password = the pw used to log into Hotmail
Go to Settings-bottom left of page
Go to Server settings
Make sure username is set to your Hotmail address. Example: musicguy@hotmail.com.

Also on that page at the bottom left is a setting
Add-ons and themes
Click on that
Try the ImportExportToolsNg and see if that helps.

In the mean time I will try and do some step by step instructions.
Question, Answer Yes or No (DO NOT post actual info)
Do you know your hotmail email address.
Do you know the password to your hotmail account.

Yes I know both hotmail and PW.
