Solid Dark Green Screen

Hello,

Today my computer has been asleep most of the day, I woke it up recently and for 30secs-1min everything seemed fine, then the screen changed to a solid, dark green. Nothing was open at the time, it was on my desktop, background stuff running as normal, steam, etc. I tried a turning the monitor off and on, then switched out the HDMI cable, then tried using a different monitor and nothing changed. With nothing else working I forced a restart and it seems to be working fine, for now, but I'm worried it might happen again in the middle of something important. Any advice on what could be the cause?

My PC is a few years old now, I upgraded to an RX580 at the start of the year but have had no issues in the last 7-8months, even when running under a heavy load.

sounds to me like a simple failure of the PC to recover from sleep, standby, hibernation or whatever power-save mode it was in.
you could update your graphics card to clutch that straw, but if this is the first time it has happened, and the PC's running fine, let's see if it happens again before jumping off the deep end.
