SD Card Reader Issues

I have a Beikell SD Card reader, USB connection. Seems to work OK with 128Gb cards transferring video files but I'm struggling trying to transfer/copy directories from my PC (windows 11) to a 500Gb SD card. (50+Gb size directories). With the SD card formatted exFAT32 it seems to transfer all the files but when I check most of the files are not visible, or if they are then the format,(eg .jpg) is "not recognised". Strangely if I then delete the directory on the SD card it seems to delete all those "invisible" files. I tried reformatting the card in NTFS, transfer was very slow and whilst more files transferred many were still not visible. I assume there is no size limit on the card reader. Any suggestions? (note using a legacy usb hard drive, formatted FAT32, I can indeed transfer a 50Gb directory OK)

To confirm, when you copy a folder to the 128GB SD card, all is good.
But copying the same folder to the 500GB card fails?
And copying that same data again to a USB HDD, works OK?

Seems to suggest the 500GB card is faulty.
Did any errors pop up when reformatting?
What is the make/model/age of the card?

To rule out the PC, have you tried that card in another PC?

With the SD card plugged in, run Speccy, it should show the SMART values for the card.
Get Speccy; https://www.piriform.com/speccy/builds
In Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot (hit Yes if prompted to proceed with publish) > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
Now you can paste that link into your next post.

Is Speccy safe?

If you’re still having problems then I would consider checking to see if the 500GB card is genuine.
You can use this utility to check the drive for authenticity:
If it is fake or genuine then it will inform you of this. You will not lose data on the drive using this program.
