Hi everyone, apologies in advance if any terminology is incorrect, I am not PC savvy in the slightest so I'll try my best to explain my current issue.

Essentially, I bought a pre-built PC from AWD back in May, and ever since then I've just dealt with the issues at hand but it has become unbearable as of late. The issue is when I want to play games, such as Cyberpunk, Minecraft, Valorant, Elden Ring etc my pc has random intervals where it stutters, for example on Cyberpunk it stutters about every 5 seconds and my FPS goes from around 120 to 8. It's less severe on some games such as Valorant where it's not as common, but it still happens. At first I thought it could be a cooling issue but I don't believe it is since my PC stays at average temperatures, but again I'm not too sure.

What's also interesting is these stutters happen regardless of the graphics settings being used, for example on Cyperpunk I will get the same interval of stutters when on maxed settings and when on potato settings and this is something that happens on most other games too. I've gone though all the usual troubleshooting tips and made sure all my gpu drivers are updated via GForce Experience, Windows is always updated and same for my CPU and general windows optimisations. I am just truly confused on what causes these stutters/freezes even when on the lowest possible graphic settings.

My specs are as follows:

MSI RTX 4070 12GB
Intel i9-11900KF, 3.5GHz
2x Kingston Fury 16GB DDR4
Verbatim Vi300 2TB SSD
B560M DS3H V3 motherboard
Thermalright Assassin X120 WHITE Air Cooler
750W Gold Rated Modular PSU
WIN11

Any help would be really appreciated, I've made contact with the company I bought the prebuilt from as well but still awaiting a response.

Remove preinstalled apps that you can live without, windows 11 comes with a large amount of bloatware.

Hi thank you for the reply, I've followed all instructions with removing one drive, uninstalling background apps and bloatware, checking start up process etc. Unfortunately my issue is still there, perhaps it's an issue with my hardware inside my pc. I'm not quite sure what else to try, I've tried scoping around my pc to make sure everything is plugged in and connected properly and it seems it is, so still baffled on what it could be.

Just for added context, I do essentially live in the middle of nowhere with no high speed availability. I am however connected via ethernet to my current router.

Reset your Hosts file.

  1. Click here to download RstHosts v2.0\
  2. Save the file to your desktop.
  3. Right Click and Run as Administrator.
  4. Click on Restaurer, then click OK at the prompt.
  5. This will restore the default host file.

This batch file will disable IPV6, set your dns to Cloudfare DNS and flush the DNS cache. As well as disable a few useless services.

Create and run batch file.

Open a notepad and copy the entire content of the code box below.
Paste the txt into the notepad. Save the file to your desktop as INT.bat
Now you will right click the on INT.bat and run as administrator.

Warning: This batch file will reboot your machine when complete! Save all work prior to running!!

Code:
@echo off
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer" /v SmartScreenEnabled /t REG_SZ /d Off /f
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection /f /v AllowTelemetry /t REG_DWORD /d 0
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AdvertisingInfo /f /v DisabledByGroupPolicy /t REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters" /v DisabledComponents /t REG_DWORD /d 255 /f
wmic nicconfig where (IPEnabled=TRUE) call SetDNSServerSearchOrder ("1.1.1.1", "1.0.0.1")
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
sc stop lfsvc
sc config lfsvc= disabled
sc stop SysMain
sc config SysMain= disabled
sc stop BdESvc
sc config BdESvc= disabled
pause

Reboot the computer.
Rerun Speed test after these steps.

Bloody hell - those speeds (up and down) are crap.
I'm surprised you can do any gaming at all.

Add to that, if the PC decides to do anything, like updates, or cloud storage stuff, or if any other user/device on your network does anything like emails, spotify, netflix, etc then your bandwidth is going to struggle and games will suffer.

Definitely an improvement in terms of speeds and connectivity, I believe this is the max based on my internet package. Sadly this is the best my area has to offer. It's difficult to download games but surprisingly on games like CS and Valorant, my ping is generally quite stable at around 20ms and doesn't usually spike high.

I've followed all steps, however stutter still remains in game, especially Cyberpunk and Elden Ring. Still awaiting a response from the website I bought it from but I appreciate all the help.

Prior to Gaming, disable windows updates: This will save some bandwidth.. You can simply enable again after you are done gaming,

Unzip it to your documents folder, Right click Wub_x64 and run as admin.

Do the same for Defender.

This will not disable these services, only stop them just run this batch file prior to gaming. If anything you like is stopped, only requires you to manually start it back. Also, a reboot will set these services back to how you have them. There are a couple duplicate services in there, it will not hurt anything to run them again I am in the process of working on a guide to disable un needed services...

After you disable updates, then run the batch file to stop these services. Test your game out and let us know the outcome. I am still working on this batch file, so I may have an update on more services to stop prior to gaming, this is mainly windows 10 services.

I do not suggest that you leave defender and updates disabled, you can re enable them after your gaming session. Also, the batch file will need to be ran after each time you reboot, as I said this only stops the services so that you can gain a few more resources/bandwidth to game with.
