Solved Problems after new ram

So i've been running with 8 GB ram for the past 3 or 4 years, i bought better graphics card about 2 years ago and since then i could play genshin impact on the best quality settings.

2 weeks ago i bought aditional 32GB (2x16) ram, after 3 tries i put it in correctly and the pc registers it, but my monitor started glitching, ocasionally showing tons of colored squares, but a lot of times my monitor goes black, sometimes i have to restart my pc because the monitor doesnt turn on again.

This happens only when i am actively looking at my browser tho

When i run genshin with the same settings i had with 8GB ram, in task manager the GPU usage immediately spikes to 100%, even on the loading screen and drops back to 1-0% as soon as i quit the game.

I checked inputs and outputs of my monitor, and even though i didnt touch my graphics cards when i installed new ram, i checked its connection as well.

All my drivers are up to date, please help

So other can assist let get a speccy report.

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Get rid of that snake oil, see my canned info below;

Once Windows has been installed, you install the necessary drivers for the MB and other hardware and then leave well alone, drivers should not be allowed to auto update and you should never update any driver/s unless the new drivers are intended to resolve a specific issue that you are having, installing new drivers unnecessarily can actually cause you the very issues that any new drivers are intended to resolve and uninstalling the new drivers may not resolve the problem/s that installing the new drivers has caused.

Depending on priority it can take many months before the driver provider releases any fix and depending on the age of the hardware or software concerned they sometimes do not even bother or may have already announced an end of support.

The exact same policy applies to the BIOS, do not update it unless it is advised by the manufacturer of the hardware or alternatively if it is to allow for a CPU upgrade.

Updating things for no reason has a 50/50 chance of bricking your computer, don`t gamble unless you can (A) Do without the computer (B) have loads of spare cash and can buy a new one with no problem or (C) Both of the previous.

You have two different brands and spec of RAM so no wonder you are having problems with it.

Additionally, none of the RAM is appropriate for your CPU, AMD state here up to 2933MHz and if you have XMP or DOCP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will fall over.

16GB of RAM working in dual channel is all that most users will need and anything more than the 16GB does not get used so may as well not even be there.

Restart and restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS.

Restoring the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" "most stable" or on newer boards "optimized" please note that if you have both the "most stable" and the "optimized" options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the "optimized" settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS then continue with the below;

Shutdown then safely remove the two 4GB sticks and put them somewhere safe.

Put the two 16GB sticks in slots A2 and B2 which are the second and fourth slots away from the CPU.

Reassemble, test by using as you normally would, post back with an update when you are ready.

Oh, this very well might be it. I checked if the new ram is ddr, then the ram speed but i didnt think brand would matter.
What do you mean by "restoring MBs default settings"?

All RAM is DDR, the two types of RAM are both the wrong speed and the brands not being the same does not always matter but the two types of RAM must have identical specifications, your two types of RAM are not identical.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer and test by using the computer as you normally would.

well i switched the rams as you said, 2nd and 4th slot from the fan and my game doestn lag anymore. but the GPU usage i still at 100%, because somehow for some reason my pc switched gpus. it now uses the intergrated one instead of the external radeon 570 series.

My bad, as the stupid idiot i am, i plugged my hdmi cable to the wrong slot. all is running nice and well, just my gpu is at 60-70% when playing the game, is that alright considering my setup? and thank you for your tremendous help, i appreciate it

Don`t be too hard on yourself, it is a very common and easy mistake to make.

Pleased to hear that the issue is resolved and thank you for letting us know (y)

GPU performance is ok but one thing that may help is for you to manually OC your RAM to a max of 2933MHz.
