Solved Problem with USB-A 3 port on Vivobook E1504FA

Greetings Ladies and gentlemen,

i have been having trouble with my laptop (Vivobook E1504FA) USB-A 3 port for a month. The mentioned USB port can provide power; but can only recognize an external SSD connected via USB-B cable. it opens the SSD and transfers files without any problems; but fails to recognize a simple USB flash drive or any Bluetooth dongles. Another interesting behavior is that the SSD is not recognized if connected to the aforementioned port through a USB-A USB HUB but is recognized without any problems if connected through a USB-B HUB. Other USB drives or dongles are still not recognized even if connected through USB-B HUB.

I must also add that i am using windows 11. The same condition existed with kali Linux and Windows 10. The computer does not show the USB drives to that USB port in bios, either.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I was going to blame the ASUS bloatware or your VPN software but if it also happened under two other OS's, than software related issue would be unlikely.

how old is the laptop - under warranty?
The laptop is two months old. And it is under warranty.
But i didn't want to take it to the service center yet. The behavior was kind of interesting as well. Is it possible that the USB port is partially damaged?

does yours have a USB-A on both sides, and a USB-C as well?
does you issue only happen on one of the USB-A's?
Asus Vivobook e1504fa, has a type -a on both sides, and a type -c on the same side as the affected usb-a port. I think the alone type-a is a usb 2, but I am not sure. That alone type-a does not have that problem. Type-c does not show any abnormalities either.
