Hi can anyone help I've been trying to fix my pc and I've bought an old am3+ motherboard but when I load the pc it says reboot and select proper boot device, I've made sure the boot priority is correct, I've tried removing cmos battery and I've tried booting from a USB. When I try from USB it doesn't say reboot and select proper boot device it's just a flashing underscore and nothing happens, the motherboard doesn't have uefi, the version is the latest version so I don't think flashing will change anything. The motherboard is M5A78L-M/USB3. I'm using ssd to boot from, thanks to anyone who can help

Please reboot and select proper boot device

What power supply are you using, one with a 24pin connector or one with a 20pin + 4 pin.
If 20 + 4 have you connected the 4 pin.
I am not 100% sure that this board can boot from usb.
When you have a usb plugged in turn on and check the bios.
Does it see the usb in the boot menu and can it be selected as the first boot device.
If it can be selected as the boot device if it still does not boot from usb.
Turn on and when you see the ASUS logo press F8.
Can you see the usb in the boot menu.
Also check the advanced tab in the bios and make sure USB Legacy support is set to Auto or Enabled.
Make sure the usb stick is plugged into a black usb 2.0 port not a blue 3.0 port.

How did you make the usb.
Yeah it sees the usb as a bootable option it's a 20+4 power supply the error changes from reboot and select proper boot device too just a flashing underscore I will check the USB I'm not sure if I put it in 2.0 or 3.0
As for usb legacy support I'm not at the pc ATM but I don't think there was an option for that I'm 80 percent sure
