I've gone and done this now, and its whilst it's downloading i can see it has the same version number as the one i deleted, so to double check i'm not being stupid could you go through each step you want me to do, I went onto my files, went on download and created a folder in there called ''dell drivers'' i went on the link and downloaded something called ''RealTek ALC3266 High Definition Audio '' then put it in the newly created folder, then went on device manager and clicked ''sound video and game controllers'' then uninstalled realtek HD AUDIO and removed from system and then reset my pc then clicked on the folder i had made and installed the download. Does that sound right?

hahaha, no worries, yes i did that and surprisingly static stopped for a long time, watched videos normally then i decided to play a game on steam, that's when my heart sank as 3 minutes in the audio began cutting out and went silent but it wasn't crackly or static is just cut, but my computer was still registering sound on sound settings and volume mixer, the bar was moving up and down.

That behaviour suggests that it is a hardware problem with two possible causes being the cable/s or the speakers themselves.

Can you try the speakers and the present speaker cable on another computer/notebook etc.

Did you use the same speaker cable/s.

Have you tried headphones?

Have you tried both the front and rear audio ports on the computer.

Are you using a HDMI cable from the video card to your screen.

Some helpful tips here for you to check.

Last but not least, use your last system restore point that your created before you uninstalled the previous drivers.

yes i used the same speaker cable/s.

yes headphones made no difference

yes both front and rear ports used

yes i have two monitors one has HDMI to the pc and the other is connected via DVI

I HAVE JUST HAD AN UPDATE i connected my Bluetooth earphones to the PC Bluetooth and the sound is working perfectly fine, I played a game and no static at all, however it's annoying i cant use my speakers still ):

Which confirms that the audio chip is still working and the drivers are good.

Do you get any audio from the HDMI monitor.

Can you upload a screenshot of the Volume mixer, you right click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and then select Open Volume mixer.

no the monitor doesn't have sound coming from it, only the speakers, I've put the speakers back to my PC and it worked for a few mins then it started going static, on the left side and then silent, then the right side followed. THIS picture is what you requested whilst a video is playing, there's no sound coming from the speakers just small fuzz/static now.

i`m stumped tbh, I can only think that there is a problem with the internal speaker connection/s or something interfering with the audio chip

Long shot but when you next watch a video can you go into the Device Manager then Sound, Video and Game Controllers, what audio setting is shown to be the default, if it is HDMI audio it would explain the no audio coming through the speakers.

Did you happen to look at the information at the link in my reply #47, I don`t use any apps so have none to try allocating sound to for testing purposes.

There is a way around this if we are unable to find and correct the problem, a USB audio device

Also not sure if this is relevant but on dell support assist it has this:

also: this is what i see when i click on properties on AMD High Definition Audio Device and Realtek Audio

The HDMI is not interfering with things then so back to a loose connection or possibly the audio chip being affected by something.

Did you notice the installation dates for those drivers in your screenshots, almost three weeks ago, the unknown device could be your webcam.

Did you try the speaker port on the front of the case to see if it sounds the same as the port your using for the speakers??

there is a speaker port on front and back
if it's same both ports and PC has been reloaded not looking good, I guess you could hookup a USB sound card
Done in reply #47 but no change and likewise made the suggestion in reply #51 Matt (y)
