Current specs:
Ryzen 5 3600
RX 6800 XT
ESgaming 650w PSU
32gb 3600mhz Ram (quad channel)
Ag400 cooler (overkill I know)
MSI B550M VC motherboard
Aerocool Cyclon RGB Mid Tower Case

So initially my PC build was an Ryzen 5 3600 with an RTX 2080 Super. I've been thinking about upgrading recently, so I bought the bullet with an Rx 6800 XT and a Ryzen 5 5600x. I then proceeded to switch out then CPU and gpu's only to find out the system wouldn't boot up at all. The system did lit up, the fans were spinning, but nothing would display. I switched out to the 3600 and everything booted normally. I thought I had to update the bios, so I did that. Tried both cpus and nothing worked. I then though maybe the 5600x was faulty since it felt a bit wobbly in the AM4 socket (I bought it off eBay; probably a bad idea).

Since nothing would boot up, I then proceeded to think it was the motherboard, so I got a new motherboard from Amazon; the one shown in current specs, and I set everything up and got a new cooler for it,, as shown. I tried everything to the best of my ability, and again, nothing would boot up. I did manage to get the PC to light up with RGB and the fans spinning once by moving the GPU a bit in the pcie slot,, but again, nothing would display.

A big reoccurrence would be the RGB on the GPU and case would light up for 1 split second then turns off; no fans would spin.

I also checked the PSU to see if it was working with the appear clip method, and the fans on that spun, so it is indeed working. Could it be that I need a higher wattage PSU? I switched the GPU with my backup, an R9 380 just to make sure and it still didn't boot.

I'm at a loss for words as to what's going on. It can't be the motherboard since it's brand new, it can't be the PSU since it works stand alone. I assume my 2 GPUs also work because it would be super strange if both of them were to die randomly. Maybe it's my CPU that's the issue? Can anyone help or give me some advice? Everything looks properly plugged in, and I'm at a loss for words on what to do. My last build with the 2080 super worked flawlessly, and I never had trouble with that. Any ideas?

Forgot to mention that the case fan is missing. I'm getting a new one, but the PC should still boot fine without one?

Hell, it's still a possibility that my old motherboard still works since the problem still OCCURS...
Also, a good thing I remember is that, before I updated the bios, the 3600 worked fine, but when I updated the bios, nothing would boot. Same with the new motherboard as I assume it's using the newest bios version

A few things to start with.
RX 6800 XT
Minimum Power supply 750W https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt
Ryzen 5 3600
Maximum memory 3200 2 Channel https://www.amd.com/en/support/cpu/...d-ryzen-5-desktop-processors/amd-ryzen-5-3600
I also checked the PSU to see if it was working with the appear clip method
Proofs nothing as there is no load
MSI B550M VC motherboard
Dual memory channel https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B550M-VC-WIFI/Specification

Ahh ok. So I need a bigger PSU? I tried to boot it up with my R9 380 backup GPU, but to no avail. Even though the 3600 is a bit old, it would still load with the newest bios version, right? The CPU worked perfectly before I updated the bios as I recall.

+1 on the disassemble and re-assembling on a piece of cardboard somewhere.
take it all back to original parts, only connect the bare essentials to get it to boot - so only one RAM stick, one drive, no keyboard/mouse, no RGB's, no DVD unit - that sort of stuff.
if the mobo and CPU allow it, no GPU either, use the built-in ports if you can.

if nothing else, it'll give you a chance to clean and inspect everything, plus allow easier access to swapping parts (which will be a big part of your life for the next few days) until you get it going!

With that ram?
I used 3600mhz ram on my old build with the same cpu and a 2080 super and everything works just fine. I'll take the motherboard out of the case tomorrow, connect the bare essentials and see if anything lights up.

Also, I'm not really sure how to reply to certain texts. I'm on phone, so it's maybe a bit different here. I would reply on PC, but uhhh, I kinda can't. Lol.

Thank you. I'll try this tomorrow and post any updates!

Hello, everyone! So there are some good news and bad news. Good news is, I took both motherboards out of the case and tested them individually. Both seemed to light up along with the CPU fan and GPU, but I cannot get display out on either of them. The GPU looks to be properly seated within the motherboard and is lit up as seen here. I don't know what the issue is...

while we are trying to troubleshoot the issue, part of that process is to isolate the parts that will allow the PC to boot successfully (or discover the parts that may be stopping that process).
so try setting it up with only one memory stick(pic shows all four inserted), one drive(pic shows NVMe and SSD connected) - that sort of thing - keep it simple!

I disconnected the ssds from the sata ports, and the nvme ssd was lighting up when attempting to power up. I tried with one memory stick and to no avail. I contacted Gigabyte and just sent the motherboard for RMA. Hopefully they can repair and send it back quickly.

Hey, guys, another update, I contacted Gigabyte and just sent the motherboard for RMA. Hopefully they can repair and send it back quickly. Will update everyone once I receive it back again.

RMA could take a while, from the very limited times I've had to go down that path.
apart from time taken to get it there and back, the process seems to bog down if they want to test the part, try to repair it, or they are just swamped.

keep us posted (y)
