So this all started with me getting an upgrade for GPU since I work at an electronics shop. Old system was an i9 10900k on a MSI Z490 Gaming edge WIFI (think that's the name), 32gb ram (4 sticks) and a 3070. Turned off my PC and took out my 3070 to be replaced by a 3080, got home with the 3080, plugged everything in, start the pc and..... lights up but no video, ok well the motherboard is giving the white CPU light, test two CPUs and they worked fine (i5 10400f booted fine, and so did a i9 11900 non k) Alright well the CPU is bad as indicated, easy fix right? Buy a new 10900k, install it, start it up and I get bios fine, but it freezes when going into windows.
This is pretty much where i am stuck for some reason the new i9 10900k wont work but the 11900 is fine still. these are the steps i have already tried:
Wiping my SSD and Reinstalling windows.
Running with only one ram stick.
Updating my MoBo Bios (required for 11th gen to even run on this board supposedly)
Resetting BIOS to default settings
Seems no matter what I try it either freezes soon as windows tries to boot my profile, or after a fresh install i was able to get to a desktop only to then get freezes and random restarts within minutes.
As a side note, XMP profile for my ram is meant to be 3600, when the 11900 is installed and i use XMP it defaults to some odd 3453 (not exactly sure the speed but its not 3600) and need to select manually 3600 from bios, and with the 10900k XMP causes the entire system to crash pretty much immediately on reboot and wont even load an XMP profile in bios or otherwise, it'll stay stuck at the default speed
At this point I'm thinking for some reason the board is going bad? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
