Optilex 790 Not Powering Up

Status
Not open for further replies.
I got a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 790 for a friend about six months ago. It would not power up today, power button shows light but nothing coming up on screen. At first, I thought it was the monitor, but it is the CPU. Anything I can do to maybe get it up and going, any switch, button, I'm lost. Thanks

Not what you post in your OP so we had to check for legal reasons.

The Dell OptiPlex 790 came in four variants, which one do you have, specs are here

Can you clarify a couple of things for us;

. It would not power up today, power button shows light but nothing coming up on screen.

What colour is the button and is the colour steady or flashing.

I thought it was the monitor, but it is the CPU.

If nothing happens when you press the case power button nothing will appear on the monitor because no signal has been sent from the PSU to the MB to get the procedure started, a bad case button or PSU can cause such behaviour but so can a loose memory stick or a non functional keyboard etc.

What do you mean by " but it is the CPU. "
