Status
Not open for further replies.
Good morning, I built a new system recently and have had issues with it rebooting or locking up when I play any game. Anything from Risk to Civ6 to roblox. Its random sometimes it will happen immediately and sometimes it happens after long periods of gaming. I have posted results of a diagnostic scan. It does not do this in any other circumstance or with any other applications. I have changed the video card I had an nvidia 3060 12GB and now I have an AMD 6700 12GB. here are the specs MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI (MS-7C79), AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (Navi22 XT) [C.P. Technology (PowerColor)], Intel Core i9-11900K, PNY DDR4-3200 / PC4-25600 DDR4 SDRAM UDIMM 64 GB total, I have a cooler master heatsink and fan. I have never seen temps spike out of range. I have 2 sabrent rocket NVME 1tb HDD's on board. Please help its driving me crazy.

You have missed the most important in formation off your parts list, can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Your single crash dmp identifies the AMD GPU drivers as being the cause.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

No sign of any Nvidea drivers so unless you get any further BSOD involving the AMD GPU drivers we will leave well alone.

A good PSU so just make sure that all your connections are secure at both ends and the only thing of note in Speccy is that you have multiple AVs installed and running, why this is bad is explained below;;

Antivirus
Malwarebytes
Antivirus: Enabled

Virus Signature Database: Up to date
Windows Defender
Antivirus: Disabled
Virus Signature Database: Up to date
Avast Antivirus
Antivirus: Enabled

Virus Signature Database: Up to date

Having more than one AV or Firewall installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

You can uninstall Avast in the Control Panel but should you have any problems see Avast clean removal info here Please create a new system restore point first.

Malwarebytes removal info here

Once the other AVs has been correctly uninstalled, check to see if Windows Defender is auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Once done, restart, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update when you are ready.

It is important that we use the correct terminology and descriptions when we can so as to avoid any misunderstandings, You do not have Microsoft Security Essentials you have Windows Defender, the former is a standalone AV that can be used with other OSs that do not have their own AV whereas Windows Defender is an integral component of Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 and MSE should never ever be installed on any computer that is running Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11.

I tried playing some civilization 5 and the game crashed but the system did not reboot

What happened exactly.

Software such as Windows can crash and when it does crash you get a BSOD and when enabled a crash dmp is generated, programs or games when they crash can on occasion close to the desktop but the computer will still be 100% functional.

Hardware failure such as a weak power supply and/or overheating are not software related and when a computer for example suddenly turns off, freezes or the screen goes black etc the behaviour should be described as the "computer shut down unexpectedly" or froze etc and not as having crashed as the latter implies a software issue as opposed to an obvious hardware issue when described properly.

Having the correct info means that helpers will not be looking for a software issue when the problem is clearly hardware related.

You had a BSOD on Friday the 2nd of June and the culprit was Avast, namely aswArPot.sys and most likely as a consequence of you having multiple AVs running.

The latest crash was caused by a problem between the video drivers and the Windows Defender user interface, SecHealthUI.exe to be exact.

Had you installed all of the latest Windows Defender and Windows 10 updates before you ran the Defender scan.

Did the Defender scan start automatically or did you start it manually.

I apologize for the errors and do sincerely appreciate your assistance. I am curious as to why video drivers and windows defender would have a conflict. It's strange to me. I can't remember whether or not I update it before I ran it. I did start the scan manually. I apologize again if you feel that i am wasting your time. I am typically pretty good at solving these things on my own but this one has me baffled.

You are not wasting anyone's time but we can`t do anything without the said crash dmp and you answering all questions that have previously been asked.

What happened exactly.

1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.
2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box
