Solved New SSD

Welcome to PCHF dewgewdad,
To be able to safely advise you we need to know more than just the processor details, it is pretty easy to add an SSD on most desktops but some of the small form factor types do not have the room in the case and the motherboards may not have a spare SATA port or M2 slot for any SSD to connect to.
Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the computer case and the motherboard so we can check the specs.

Thank you for resonding! I have a HP desktop sys mondel P7-1213, the sys sku is QW754AA # ABA I don't know if that can help you to help me. I have the system info page if you need anything else. Again thanks. Also can I take out the old one and put the new one in its place?

Your case info says that there are two 3.5" bays, one will be occupied by the present HDD which should leave one for any SSD that you may purchase.
The MB specs can be found here and show that there are six SATA 3.0 ports on the board which means that you have no worries there.
What we will need to know, what capacity SSD you wish to add + what version of Windows are you running, the computer shipped with Windows 7 but you may have upgraded to Windows 10, we need to know this as it makes a difference as to the best way to proceed, we ideally could do with you being able to keep the 1TB as is in the computer.

As you suspected I have upgraded to Windows 10. I hope this helps you and I just want to say thank you very much for your help. The idiots at Best Buy told me to unplug everything and bring the denktop in and they will have the Geek Squad tell me what SSD I should buy. Can you also answer the above for us if you will, once we know the answer to this we can provide all of the relevant info that you need, and to be able undertake the task yourself.
Never had to deal with them but surmise that they will the same as the big retailers in the UK, they have in-store staff with the smallest amount of knowledge who are able to write down a customers needs and then send the info along with the customers computer to an off site workshop where the most difficult thing they ever do is swap out a PSU or install Windows.
Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.
