My laptop keeps going to sleep

Well i used CCleaner for the 1st step, it didnt work, i used malwarebytes for the 2nd step, it didnt work either.
So i think i'll have to reinstall my windows.
Now what i want to know is, do i need to clear my whole hard drive completely or just clearing drive C and reinstalling the windows is enough?

if you want a clean install of Windows, it would be best to allow Windows to delete the partition it is currently installed on as it loads.
it's one of the first few prompts it spits out when you run the install file.

it goes without saying - make sure you backup all your data. :)

I havent had the chance to change my windows because im actually thinking about changing to ubuntu.

And some new (kinda) light has come to this problem that my laptop has been having.
So it goes to sleep when im watching videos.
Sometimes when it happens, im busy with my phone and i dont wake it up right away and it turns itself back on (from sleep) after some time.
Im not sure if it would happen everytime if i dont wake it up.
But it has happened for 3-4 times now. Im gonna test this more but could this mean anything?

Hello

Once my friend had a similar problem. Sadly all i remember is the solution i found for the problem and no other details. I updated the bios. After that it never went to sleep on its own again. I hope this works for you and if you already tried that im sorry if i missed it in replies.

Regards

I did all three!
Used ccleaner, didnt work
Malwarebytes, didnt work

I reinstalled windows (only cleared windows installation drive), Didnt work.

Should i clear my whole laptop and reinstall windows again? Or i should send it for hardware check, or i dont know!
I'm so frustrated about this.

Once again I kindly recommend you updating the bios. The problem you're describing is almost the same my friend had and was solved by updating the bios after nothing else worked for a whole year.

There is plenty tutorials on youtube on how to update bios and it isn't too hard. Honestly nothing to loose. Just double check you're installing the right version of bios for your pc/motherboard and you're golden.

I am insisting only because i know how frustrating it can be.
Best of luck

to rule out any sort of software issue, I'd be reloading a fresh version of Windows.
then as soon as it's installed and running, start watching videos and using media players and see if the problem returns.
if all good from the get-go, then install one or two new programs at a time (Office, Photoshop, VLC etc) and repeat the exercise of watching videos.
the idea is that when(if?) it happens again, you'll have an idea as to what could be causing it.

(and yes, the BIOS update is definitely worth a stab)

Umm i cleaned my hdd and ssd
I reinstalled windows
I installed the following 6 apps:
Google chrome, IDM, steam, k-lite mega codec, openvpn and Search everything.

I tried watching videos, it didnt happen but about 2 minutes after opening twitch website and while i was logging in, it went to sleep.
I didnt play any videos but i think twitch was playing some video automatically in the background.

I also tried updating my BIOS using winflash.
It said my bios was up to date.
I checked the asus website for newer bios and i downloaded it and tried to install it with winflash but it said my own installed version was newer than the one i downloaded which is not true because the one i downloaded has a newer release date.

What should i do now?

installing only one or two apps at a time would have been preferred as narrowing down the potential culprit would be easier.
you could uninstall each of those 6 apps one at a time and see if the problem goes away, but sometimes things are left behind.

as to the BIOS update, any chance you got the wrong version for your country, something like that?
also try other ways of updating the BIOS, like from within the BIOS itself.
the BIOS update tool, winflash, that you used, you got that from the ASUS website?

I installed 3 apps each day
They were installed in the aforementioned order.

I didnt get the app from their website. A tutorial that i watches suggested it.

yep - you are in a 'suck it and see' vicious cycle now.
I would use the Windows uninstall process to remove them then use something like Revo Uninstaller to remove any traces.
and yep - one at a time until (hopefully) the issue goes away.

and if it doesn't go away - for me, I would reload Windows (yep - again) and NOT install anything - run it watching vids or whatever it takes and see it the problem really has gone away.
only then will you be able to say that Windows in its raw state works fine and therefore it must be something I'm installing that is causing this.
if that is in fact what it even is - at this stage we are simply trying to find the 'what' not the 'why'.

I will try what you suggested, but first im gonna try a theory of mine on why this is happening. It's probably wrong because it doesnt really explain why it happens during videos. And why in a burst of sleeping, it goes to sleep faster each time its woken.
What if something is triggering the 'closing the lid' action while watchin videos.
Because i changed the settings of everything and the only thing that i can think of that was supposed to make the laptop go to sleep was closing the lid.
And it kinda actually explains some of the things,
Like 1.it turns back on after some time because the 'close the lid' trigger finishes and because the laptop is open, it wakes up.
2.most of the time when it goes to sleep, if I turn it back on it goes to sleep again which could be because the laptop thinks the lid is closed

Well it hasnt gone to sleep since i changed the setting but it's also to soon to tell if it was actually the cause.
I wont change anything for a month and if it doesnt happen again i will tell you.
But i dont have any high hopes because of the reasons i mentioned in the last reply.
Also please dont close the thread untill 1month.
I will update the situation every week.

All of these is on the condition that no sleeping happens ofc.

ummmmm
My theory was actualy right.
Because i set the 'lid close action' ro turn of screen

And just right now the screen flickered(turned off & back on immediately) for (to my count) 32 times.

What am i supposed to do now?
Now we know my previous observation was wrong that "it turns back to sleep faster each time i wake it up", because as i saw it, it happened totally randomly.

And i'd like to remind you that it ALWAYS happens when i'm watching videos.

Ok i checked the settings and actually it could be the power button too.
Because closing the lid is set to do nothing but it turns the screen off anyway. And also the power button action is set to turn the screen off. So I dont know which one is being triggered and i will change 'lid close action' to 'sleep' again to find out which one is being trigerred. But it may take some time for it to happen and to find out this way. But it's 100% one of these because they're the only thing i changed.

What's next?
