hello,
i have recently built a new pc and my apps crash regularly. I do not get any error message, it just closes! Also, about once a day my system freezes, and i have to restart it. I have all the latest drivers and my pc is more than capable of running these programs. I use the latest version of Windows 10. Here are my specs:
ryzen 5 2600x
gtx1660 super
16 gb ram (single stick)
256 gb ssd for windows
2 tb hdd for apps

I have tried many things like checking if my apps or windows is corrupted but it isnt.
I hope that someone knows a way to fix this,
thank you

Hello Mookie_69,

about once a day my system freezes, and i have to restart i

Typical behaviour of something overheating and/or a weak PSU that is overheating internally.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU.

16 gb ram (single stick)

This will be causing you problems, Ryzen CPUs demand fast RAM and you only having a single stick means that it can only work in single channel which is only half speed, your CPU needs DDR4 2933/3000MHz RAM or you will get issues.
i have recently built a new pc

After installing Windows did you then install the drivers for the MB and starting with the chipset drivers first, this is a must as the chipset is what enables the MB to communicate with the other hardware, these drivers must come from either the disk provided with the MB or downloaded direct from the MBs homepage, Windows updates cannot provide them.

I have a corsair cv650 PSU, so I do not think that will be causing the issue,
I also do not think it is overheating as I do not experience any thermal throttling.
I also downloaded the drivers in the correct order so I also don't believe that this is the issue
Do you think that there could be any other issue?

Thanks for your quick response.

cv650 PSU
CV= Corsair Value, these PSUs are made with lesser quality components as only being intended for bottom end PCs they are not expected to have to support anything more than either integrated graphics or the most basic of add on GPU that costs a few pounds/dollars.

I also do not think it is overheating as I do not experience any thermal throttling.

As per my reply #2;

Typical behaviour of something overheating and/or a weak PSU that is overheating internally.

You have a combination of issues, slow RAM and a weak PSU, both need resolving but the RAM only working in single channel will not do any long term damage to your other hardware whereas a suspect PSU can cause a multitude of issues and harm.

Ok, I will try to fix the issue, however, I have one small other problem. On my monitor every 10-20 seconds a black bar appears on the top half of the screen for a millisecond, this only happens in non-fullscreen apps and I am not sure what could be the issue. I do not believe that it is my monitor as I don't get this on fullscreen games or fullscreen youtube. Is there a way I could stop this from happening?
Thanks again for your previous response and I hope you know the answer to my question,
Kind regards.

This could also be down to the PSU and fwiw you may be getting the same problem in full screen but you just cannot see it due to it being off the visible area of the display.
