Hello all, I'm desperate for some help since forever (I don't know when exactly) I got heavy stutters on my LoL game or even Prince of Persia 2008 (legal, because I'm a rock-hard fan)
It started happening when I had installed windows 10, I updated drivers/I twitched the power settings, I cleaned up pc both internally (apps) and externally (dust/thermal paste) and it gave me one big zero improvement.
So I thought, okay maybe Windows 10 is a bit too much for my laptop then?
So I formatted my disk and installed windows 7, I installed all the necessary drivers all that is up to date from both Nvidia and intel and again, I got nothing.
I'm actually very frustrated I know that this laptop isn't one of the best, it can be actually considered old... But It should run a game from 2008 smoothly on low settings, and LoL too.
And it's not even limited to games, my chrome browser is even lagging (So is Mozilla and any other) I really have no idea, what could be the cause...
So I'm asking for help, if you need any logs please ask for whichever you like and I'll be happy to post them

Best,
Tetra

Welcome to PCHF Tetra,

Are the games being played via Steam?

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Not seeing much amiss in the Speccy report and only the one thing that would affect your gaming and that is the 8GB stick of RAM.

Because you only have the one stick of RAM fitted it is only working in single channel mode at 800MHz as opposed to the 1600MHz that you would get if you had two 4GB sticks of the same spec of RAM.

Two things of importance that was noted, Windows is not fully up to date and you have no AV protection, both are putting you at risk of malware attack and need to be addressed before worrying about any gaming performance issues, because you are running the soon to be unsupported Windows 7 I would suggest MSE for your AV protection and keep on checking and installing Windows updates until the computer is fully up to date.

Both games that you mention rely on an internet connection + you mention having problems with both Chrome and Mozilla so your internet service or hardware could be what is at fault.

Once you have MSE installed and fully up to date, try connecting the notebook to the internet using the Ethernet port on the notebook and see how that goes.

Thank you for the answer Phil, but you're not quite right about both of my games being dependable on internet connection.
As you see, Prince of Persia sure uses the Steam platform but only to launch this game, the game itself is a singleplayer mode and I can launch it without having the internet.
I'll update my Windows to the latest version and install MSE as per your recommendation.
About my browser, it's true that they cause problems but mostly it's about stuttering or not having smooth visuals, not the speed of loading pages etc.

Thank you for the enlightenment Tetra, I only play Tomb Raider online via Steam and we sometimes lose the internet connection if Windows has been updating in the background.

Once you have Windows fully up to date and your AV up and running the best test you can do is the hard wire internet connection which btw is the recommended way to go for online gaming, some info for you here
