Hi.
Answers to your questions, as follows.

1.Windows Ultimate
2.The trackpad is working but does its own thing from time to time.
The external mouse works just fine.
3. I have not adjusted anything in the mouse settings so I would need some guidance on this adjustment.

Hi again,

The ability to use an external mouse without any issues eliminates an IRQ collision.

Are there any electrical or magnetic things nearby that might be causing interference? A jumping trackpad might be able to be resolved by trying a different OS. Have you tried using a Live CD of Linux (Ubuntu or Debian) or any other OS to see if you're able to use the trackpad without any issues? If yes, that eliminates a faulty trackpad. If not, that points to a faulty trackpad.

So 2 things to try:

1.) See if any interference is being generated that would cause a jumping or erratic trackpad.
2.) Try a different OS or Live Linux CD/USB. You can get a Ubuntu image for 600MB and can fit on a thumb drive and made bootable by using UNetbootin (available here). Just follow the instruction, boot from the thumbdrive/CD/DVD and select Live CD/DVD which will allow testing without installation of any kind.

Good day BobRob,

Your issue is most likely the Synpatic drivers for the touchpad. I must assume at the moment that during a Windows update you received a corrupt driver update. If you have the laptop drivers disk then you could uninstall the faulty drivers and reinstall the original drivers. :)

(Since this is obviously a dead thread and in the of helping others with similar issues, I have added the following advice.)
