Solved monitor image goes really dark after a few seconds

Hi there,
Sorry if i'm not posting this in the right spot, first time poster here,
I've been having an issue with one of my monitor recently (it's an ASUS V229 i believe, there's too many numbers and things written behind), i'll try and explain as best as I can, but basically, when I turn on my monitor, the Asus logo and the "[whatever port] signal" shows up perfectly fine, but as soon as these dissapear, the image goes extremely dark, to the point that I have to use a flashlight to see what's going on. I tried to use a different cable for both display and power, and I also tried to change which port it was in on my computer (I have two), but it doesn't work. I have a second monitor, and it works on both, so these little guys are not responsible for that, does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

It sounds like the monitor’s backlight is failing.
Does the monitor have any settings under the menu to increase brightness?
Check too for a brightness setting under Action centre - there should be a slider to change this.
Does the monitor have any automatic brightness feature?
Settings>System>Display Is there an option to adjust the screen’s brightness automatically?

I do have a brightness setting, I tried to both increase and decrease it after looking online for answer, didn't work, I couldn't find any setting that adjusts it automatically, I also forgot to mention that I tried to reset the monitor setting too in my original post. If it is indeed a backlight issue, what can I do about it? Can I get it fixed or is it really gone?

If the setting isn’t listed in the place I mentioned then the monitor doesn’t have this feature so it isn’t the cause.
The lights can be replaced but you’d have to disassemble the monitor. You can also take the monitor to a repair shop & have them test the backlight.
You may require a new monitor.

Do you have another monitor or even a TV to which you can connect the PC to see if the problem is with the monitor?

well I do have a second monitor plugged in right now and that works just fine no matter where I plug it so I don't think the pc is the issue here, i'll try and contact a repair shop during the week to see if they can help me out with that
