Laptop screen "flickering" -- not sure if hardware or software issue

I bought an HP Envy x360 2-in-1 touchscreen laptop about three months ago and I've encountered an issue that's been slowly getting worse the past couple months.

The laptop has integrated Intel graphics, as well as a GeForce MX250 graphics card. Runs Windows 10 with an Intel i7 processor.

Every few minutes, the screen will "flicker." Super quick, and not exactly a flicker, almost like the screen brightens or goes gray for a split second.

I did some digging online which suggested it's an issue with outdated drivers. But I verified that drivers for the integrated graphics and for the MX250 are up to date. The flicker happens no matter which I'm using -- surfing Firefox using the integrated graphics, or playing a full-screen game using the MX250.

Could this possibly be a hardware issue?

Ditto to the above, you should not be having such issues with a three month old computer.

What you could do if only for your own peace of mind, connect the notebook up to an external screen via the display port to see if the issue is replicated on that, if you don`t it suggests that the HP screen or video cable are faulty, if the issue is replicated on the external screen it is either driver related or an internal hardware issue.
