Keep having to reset network adaptor

Hi,

I have a PC at home that runs Windows 10, the motherboard has onboard LAN, but since this started about 12 months or more ago I fitted another network adaptor in a spare PCIE1 slot which worked better but still drops the connection on ocasions and recenlty does more often.

I run the troubleshooter when it happens and it keeps saying that the "Default Gateway is not available" error, which it resets and we carry on until it happens again randomly. The internet is accessed via a powerline adaptor and all lights are green, we used to have it hard wired to the router until we moved things around, but the issue was there even then.

I have updated the drivers to the latest ones and unchecked the box that says "allow the computor to turn off this device to save power" but it still happens, I have checked the device manager and there are no yellow triangles anywhere, the network adaptor is Realtek PCI GbE Family Controller.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Derek

Hi

Thanks for your responces guys, I will answer the questions in the order they were asked.

The router has been restarted a few times for other reasons and we have had 2 different routers over the past 6 months for other reasons.
The router is at factory settings and the firmware is up to date.
I think I have disabled the onboard adaptor I will double check.

One thing I forgot to mention is it appears to reset itself after a while its only when I am in front of it do I manually reset it.

Cheers
