Hi Everyone!

I downloaded Office to my personal laptop using my work account ( Through Microsoft 365).
Now I can see the files that I open at work on my personal laptop. I can see that my work account is added on the Email & accounts but I cannot find any option to delete or disconnect. I am logged into my laptop using my local account. I see some responses on forums asking to open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > select the account, then choose Disconnect. but I dont see that on my laptop. Any suggestions on how can I remove my work account from my device? I attach a printscreen of what I see on settings => Accounts=> Email & Accounts in case it helps. Let me know if you need any other detail please let me know.
Many thanks in advance!!

Hiera

Pick any Office program, let's say Excel.
Go into that, go to File > Account > under User Information click Sign out.
That'll log you off your work account so you won't see your work files on your personal laptop.

Thanks for the response both!

@ Bruce ,I had uninstalled Office from my laptop thinking that ok if there is no app using that Microsoft account on my unit, account would also go away. I reinstalled Office and it asked me to sign in , which I did again and signed out again . Unfortunately the account is still under Windows email&Accounts, accounts used by other apps
The only way to split those two accounts correctly so you can have two separate Desktops is to create a new user profile, there is no other way to keep the data and apps from those accounts separate.
@PeterOz, I dont really want to have the accounts separate I want my work account gone from my personal laptop and all this "suggested people" or Today at your organizations..... or the 'recent' excel documents I opened at my work not showing on my laptop.

I also accessed my work account from my work to see if there was any setting to log me off of other devices but I couldnt fine it ( mind that I simply might have not found it if such option exists)

As far as I know to separate you have to have 2 profiles.
If you login with your work account

then you are going to always have your work stuff on your laptop.
I see, but if I uninstall Office from my laptop, can then my work Microsoft account be removed ? Or having done that already once and despite of removing the app that is/was linked to that app, it will stay there forever ( or until I reinstall windows again)?.

Try this, sign out of your work account from inside one of the Office programs.
Then go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > click on your work account - you should see a Disconnect button.
That should then also remove it from Emails & Accounts.

THanks Bruce. I think I am not signed in to Office. If I launch one of the Office programs It asks me to Sign in to my account.
Anyway I did and log out again as you suggested, but could not see the delete option.
I did sign in again but this time I used a private account and when I check under Settings=> Account => Email&Accounts I now see both accounts but I only have the remove option on the private account but not on the account that I actually want to delete 😆

So in Start > Settings > Accounts > Access work or school - you see no accounts?
And in Start Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts - you see two accounts, your private one and or work one?

When you log into Office under Word, Excel (whatever) that should create the Work or School account.
But you don't won't that so yes, log in under your private account, that part is all good.
So where is the work account coming from I wonder, if you logged out of it prior to logging in with your private account, you should see it under the Work or School section.

Maybe show us some screen shots in case something is being lost in conversation somewhere. 🙂

Bruce, thank you!! I was looking at
Start > Settings > Accounts ( no Microsoft acc there)
Start > Settings > Accounts> Your info
Start > Settings > Accounts >Email & accounts here is where I saw the work account under accounts used by other apps

But I didnt scroll further down to
Start > Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. There was my work account and there I could finally see the disconnect option!! I disconnected and now all trace of work related files are gone.

THANK YOU!! Its all good now and , in the process I learnt something

Case cosed 😊
