The question is more complex than it sounds. Please understand these caveats before commenting. I am not asking how to connect multiple "monitors" to a single CPU. I am not asking how to turn off "mirror display". I am not asking how to extend a single desktop across multiple monitors. I am not having any form of technical difficulties. I am requesting help on an extremely esoteric computer set-up that may well require additional software. When referring to "desktop" in this quarry, I explicitly mean the Windows X feature allowing for multiple distinct screens accessible by one or more monitors.
I have two monitors connected to a single computer. Under the "Multiple displays" section of the "Display" tab of the standard windows "Settings", I have selected "Extend these displays", not "Duplicate these displays". This is working perfectly as intended. Consequently, my two monitors each contain half of a single desktop.
I would like each monitor to contain its own unique "desktop" so that I may operate them independently. For example, if I have four desktops open, I may wish for my left monitor to display "Desktop 1" while my right monitor displays "Desktop 3". This differs from the operating systems built-in "Extend these displays" in that my left monitor must display half of "Desktop 1" (in my case, the left half) while my right monitor displays the other half (right) of "Desktop 1". Hence, only a single "desktop" may be viewed at a given point in time.
I would be grateful to anyone who has a solution or knows of software that allows for multiple "desktops" to be split amongst multiple monitors from a single computer. Thank you!
