Hi,
these are my specs: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/EnsknMv1l5eAieDhrOFV4Mt
6gb rtx 3060

so, for some reason, some games throttle my gpu to 70% or above usage almost immediately. I tried Baldur's gate 3, and it instantly took gpu temperature (checking in taskmanager) to 80" with 100% gpu usage, I tried chessarama (its not that high spec game), and it also used over 70% of gpu and the temperature instantly went to 70 and above.

is this common? I play league of legends or warm snow, but they never took my gpu temperature so high.

We need the exact model name or number of the notebook.

Some observations regarding Speccy;

Windows was installed a little over a month ago but the install was not done correctly.

You have a second screen hooked up, this can increase the internal temps on a desktop by up to 10 °C and a notebook type computer significantly more.

The Windows Power Plan needs to be set to High Performance on notebooks that have discrete graphics else the dedicated chip does not get the power that it needs.

Hi, its oem laptop. https://www.rippledevice.com/product/nova-pro#tech

Windows was installed a little over a month ago but the install was not done correctly.
I don't know what this means. I got the laptop about a month or so ago. Its new one, the windows came preinstalled. Is there a way to correct it?

It is set at high performance, since I use it in direct line and not battery.

Then your first point of contact should have been to open a ticket with whoever sold you the computer, you are limited as to what you can do without voiding your warranty,

Your link is not working.

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.
The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.

Whoever installed Windows on this computer has no clue what they are doing because instead of installing the chipset drivers first they installed a Windows update followed by a display driver.

It is set at high performance,

Nope, what can`t speak can`t lie and it is set to Balanced.
Power Profile
Active power scheme: Balanced

I will have to contact them about it.

sorry. you are right. But when I go to power sleep and battery settings through the search, it opens settings logo and then the page closes by itself. I can go to the option through right clicking battery tho. but there is only balanced option in change advanced settings.

The notebook must have a brand name or model number.
The brand name is Ripple device. https://www.instagram.com/rippledevice/ their insta page. Ripple device is the brand name, and model is nova pro.

Click on the Change advanced power settings option.

advanced power settings show this only.

and not sure the issue, but I can't access settings page directly sometimes without going through control panel. Like in this case, I can't open power sleep and battery settings through the search button. It gives a page which loads the settings logo and closes almost immediately.

None of their links work which is suspect :(

Your screenshot is not the same power plan, it is more of a gimmick and is in fact meant to be a power saving mode intended to make the battery last longer by reducing power to the hardware.

Its quite late here, but I had sent a message earlier and the guy messaged back saying the site might be down for a week.

its the first time I am buying oem. I got it in a little bit more discounted price than other brands, and also saw lot of reviews in their pages and google, so ordered it. In the power options through control panel, can't see any options other than balanced in advanced power settings. Is there a way to make it show other options?

The guy also said that they didn't have latest drivers for windows11 version 23h2 and that they will receive drivers for it by monday from their motherboard supplier. I think my windows update changed the version to 23h2, not sure about it actually.

not sure if this is virus or some bug. but this happened since about few weeks ago where I can't access settings.

I can access settings home page and some other settings from there, but when I click power sleep and battery settings, the page closes automatically. I think there are some other settings that I can't access too. I am not sure if it is related to me disabling some services to speed up the windows (had made thread about it and followed the guideline there. also disabled services using O&O app.

Selling unsupported hardware is not only disgraceful it is technically illegal as they are selling you something that is not fit for purpose, look at your Speccy info below;

Summary
Operating System
Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Processor
RAM
32.0GB
Motherboard
Standard Standard (U3E1)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (2560x1440@165Hz)
MSI G244F (1920x1080@165Hz)
Intel Iris Xe Graphics (Unknown)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU (Unknown): 51 °C
SLI Disabled
Storage
931GB Crucial CT1000P3PSSD8 (Unknown (SSD))
931GB SanDisk Portable SSD SCSI Disk Device (USB (SSD))
Optical Drives
No optical disk drives detected
Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

The reason why the hardware is unknown is because Windows 11 cannot communicate with it because of the lack of compatible chipset drivers etc.

1. Press the Windows key + X from the keyboard.
2. Choose Command prompt from the context menu.
3. In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes then press Enter.
4. Exit command prompt.

Restart the notebook and check for the High Performance Power Plan.

sorry for the delayed reply, It is currently 1:30 am here and I dozed off.
there was no command prompt in the context menu that pops out with windows key + X, there is terminal tho.
I opened the command prompt through search, ran as admin, and input the command you gave.
restarted. the advanced power settings still shows only balanced as an option.

That will be because the seller of the notebook has installed their own power control app, two options, wait until the seller sorts all of the present issues out for you or uninstall their power app and enable the Windows 11 High Performance Power Plan.

Question for you, have you checked the Performance tab options in the notebooks Control Centre, the battery options are only intended to prolong battery life and you may need to select something like gaming mode at the Performance tab area of Control Centre.

yes, there are game mode and turbo mode for more heat. I use game mode most of the time. haven't changed any settings since I don't know them.

That does explain why there is no High Performance option in Windows.

You are now unfortunately stuck with waiting on the seller to get back to you regarding the drivers, the chipset drivers being the most important have to come from the manufacturer of the MB as they are the only ones that write them and we can`t look for them for you because we do not know the brand of the MB.

We do know that you have an Intel CPU and chipset so you could download and run the Intel Driver Assist to see what that comes up with, use the auto detect and make a written note of any results but don`t download and install anything until Ripple have gotten back to you.
