Hi Guys. Does anybody know what this error message means?
Trying to install a game but this is the second time I am seeing this.
Windows 7 64bit. Please ask if you need any specific info.
How do I attach image btw?

LowLevelfatalError [File:Unknown] [Line 258]
Direct3DDevice ->Create Unordered Access View (Texture->GetResource(),&UAV
Desc,(ID3D11 Unordered Access View**) Unordered Access Review.
GetInitReference()) failed

Thank you :)

What is the game you are trying to install?

What is the make and model of your machine?

: Get System Info Log.
Include in your next reply a Get System Info log.
Save it to your desktop when complete.
Once you have the file on your desktop, then upload it here, and Here.
Copy the URL after your report is loaded.
Then send us the link. :)

Game is a copy of The Way of the Hunter - pre-purchase inspection. (Don't judge :))
Computer is self built - Windows 7 64bit I5 750 Lynfield 16Gb Ram
Windows is outdated as I stopped latest updates - doubt it's related.
Graphics - ATI Radeon RX550 4Gb
Error Message Complete - https://files.catbox.moe/fowvo5.PNG
Log - https://files.catbox.moe/6jfjmb.zip
Kaspersky not playing ball...
Any specific system info required?
I'm probably trying my luck here as I suspect this is a Direct 12 problem.
Thanks for helping - I hope I'm wrong though.

my guess is at line 258 of some system runtime library, an invalid argument is being passed to a process or function that isn't expecting one.
it would be a real good assumption it is based on your Win7 being well into end-of-life, and not updated.
the game is expecting your system to have something that it cannot find.

you may get lucky by downloading the latest .Net Framework, or C++ Redistributable, or who knows what else.
that's the very job of Windows Updates - to keep your PC up to spec for any software that you want to install to be compatible.

I'm probably trying my luck here as I suspect this is a Direct 12 problem.

The GPU and therefore the version of Direct X available is fine and the problem most likely related to one or both of the following;

The CPU does not meet the minimum requirements.

The game requires Windows 10 or above.

Way of the Hunter System Requirements

Long shot but you could try Windows 10 Compatibility Mode "how to" here if it plays it may do so badly because of the dated legacy spec of CPU.

Oh well, it was worth a shot. I've had games run on my system when W10 was required or recommended.
An added .dll or Unreal Engine update, etc. But I think this was a bridge too far.

I would agree, Bruce, as that is what this message seems to imply. As for the last updates for W7, only 4 from
2019, the descriptions are vague and I don't really trust Microsoft anymore. W7 for as long as possible :))

W10 compatibility does not even show in my list. Not even 8 for that matter...

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll just keep going down my list of "still waiting to be played" list.

I'd remove these programs if it were my machine with GeekUninstaller.

AVG AntiVirus FREE - 22.7.3245
AdAwareInstaller - 12.6.1005.11662
AntimalwareEngine - 3.0.160.0
SUPERAntiSpyware - 6.0.1222
Spybot - Search & Destroy - 2.5.43
adaware antivirus - 12.6.1005.11662
qBittorrent 4.1.5 - 4.1.5

Whenever you get a chance, then run a scan with Malwarebytes and Adware cleaner. Just as a general clean up of the machine, maybe scan bi-weekly with the two. No need to post the logs here, it's just part of basic pc care.

If you are looking for an effective antivirus, then you can run this much lighter and offers more protection than AVG.

I'd also run the AVG removal tool.

did you alter the hosts file? If not then run this tool.

  1. Click here to download RstHosts v2.0\
  2. Save the file to your desktop.
  3. Right Click and Run as Administrator.
  4. Click on Restaurer, then click OK at the prompt.
  5. This will restore the default host file.

Also. lol at this game I'm gonna have to google that....

Super Cat Herding: Totally Awesome Edition - 1

O lala, that is a treasure trove of suggestions. Thank you, it is much appreciated.

I have been thinking about cleaning up as the pop ups for some you suggested to remove is really getting on my nerves
and others are just not used anymore.

I did not alter the hosts file. Can third party ware do that? Any risks to restoring the file?

I use my kids' laptops on occasion and I cannot remember a single time that I walked away without bitching about W10. Not
just that it's different, just.... a pain in the strategics to use. So No, just bloody No. And we are not even discussing their spying yet...

As for Fitgirl - lol. She is a Russian king pirate sailing the seven seas of gaming. Lots of sites stealing her name, so those are
redirects to her actual site. I don't really like her download hosts but her descriptions and up to date info is pretty good.

My daughter and I had a lot of fun with the cats! But some Indy games - you have to ask? Why, oh, why

If you like puzzles, here's one for you. My keyboard falls asleep without falling asleep. Lights are on but nobody home.
Unplug, plug it back in and it works fine. Drivers are current. Not NB, just curious....

Thanks again for the time you took to help.

PS. As for your user name, carnivore will fix that (wink wink) :))

No risk in restoring the file with the tool I provided.

For your children and their machines.

As for Fitgirl

That is the alteration to your hosts file, reset with tool provided, unless you think it will affect the game, choice is yours.

There are steps that we can take to clean up your machine, just removing basic clutter and making sure all correct drivers are installed etc... your choice we could run a few scans etc but it would be easier to clean up with malware tools, which are not allowed in this area of the forum we could move this thread to the malware area and give the machine a good cleaning, not saying there is malware but the tools I use there are more in depth.

Thanks again for the time you took to help.

No problem.
PS. As for your user name, carnivore will fix that (wink wink) :))

Joined this website over ten years ago when it was pchf.com thought the name would be funny.... Now that I think about it, nothing is funny about being malnurished. :)

The cat herding...

Sorry, I misread the last part of your post. Yes, that game is quite funny especially for the young ones.
That video is funny too! I would quit before I even start...

I have cleared out all the suggested programs and also restored the host file. At least I
assume it was restored as there was no feedback after the Ok. But PC hasn't blown up. Yet.

The adware scan got a few hits and cleaned out a few things.

I'll put that anti-spy on the laptops tomorrow.

I have been slowly grinding away at old programs but some things in there I have no idea about.
If there are a few more steps to follow, I would appreciate it. Especially processes and startups.

Also, I must admit, I suspect user induced baggage and hoarding crap to be the main bugs :p

Moved it here, as it’s easier to clean up a machine with these tools.

All right, I have just seen this. I will take a look in the morning, and get a reply ready for you. While you wait, please run this tool.

Please download Zhp Cleaner to your desktop. Right Click the icon and select run as administrator.
Once you have started the program, you will need to click the scanner button.
The program will close all open browsers!
Once the scan is completed, the you will want to click the Repair button.
At the end of the process you may be asked to reboot your machine.
After you reboot a report will open on your desktop.
Attach the report here in your next reply.

Disable windows defender.

FRST Fix.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop. NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST/FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work. NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run. When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.

Hey. Sorry about the slowness. Actually just came by to say almost there.
I had a few things going so had a bunch of tabs open and such. I got all the programs downloaded, ready to
go. Most likely will do it tomorrow morning and post the reports.

Smoke....so much smoke. Firefighters running away :p

(ps what I was picturing as I ran the stranger-danger "fix")

Anyways, all done except Defender - no exe to run it. The .vbs only opened an updater for Windows.

ZHP kicked out 2 reports - you ask, you shall receive.

And the fixlog.txt

And a big thank you!
