Hello All,

I just completed my first build, but it won't start up. Here's what happens when I press the power button: .

I saw a similar problem here (https://pchelpforum.net/t/please-help-me.87446/#post-180612), and I followed the recommendations and some others from Reddit with no change.

Here's a list of things I've tried so far;
1. Swapping the RAM sticks.
2. Running with only one RAM stick in slot A2
3. Reapplying thermal paste and reseating the AIO cooler
4. Removing the GPU and all peripherals. This was the last thing I tried and as you'll see in the video, I only have the core essentials connected, but the behaviour stays the same each time.

Here's the component selection. I used PC part picker and it said everything was compatible.

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WIFI II
Power Supply: Corsair RM750e
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus

Is there a concrete possibility that something is broken now?

Golden rule of computer building is always assemble and test the parts outside of the case before putting them in the chassis.

Not quite but will come back to this in due course;

Remove the MB and do a barebones set-up on a piece of cardboard (make sure it is larger than the MB) only connect the PSU, the GFX card, screen, 1 stick of RAM in slot A2 ( the furthest one from the CPU ) and the keyboard.

IF your MB doesn`t have a power test switch you will then need to short out the 2 power on pins on the MB header to get the PSU to activate, you can use a small flat bladed screwdriver or a paper clip bent into a U shape, this is perfectly safe if you do not touch anything else, the idea is to see if we can get a BIOS screen if you do you can then add one component at a time until you find the problem component, you must power down and remove the power cord from the wall before adding another component.

The two pins to short are shown in the attachment below.

Thank you for replying.

I held off on the out-of-case assembly as the cooler backplate was coming off once the AIO attachment was removed, and I was scared I'll break something If I try to force it on.

But I'll try it again and see how it goes. Can I use the switch cable from the case to power it on instead of using the short method?

That does not fill me with confidence :(

The Ryzen 5 5600X ships with the perfectly good Wraith Spire cooler and you likewise would have been better to use this to get the system up and running doing a barebones test, not using the stock cooler supplied with the CPU means that you may well have voided the AMD warranty;

This Limited Warranty shall be null and void if the AMD microprocessor which is the subject of this Limited Warranty is used with any heatsink/fan (HSF) that does not support operation of the AMD processor in conformance with AMD’s publicly available specifications. Use of HSF solutions determined by AMD as incapable of such performance or which are determined to have contributed to the failure of the processor shall invalidate the warranty.

Get rid of the aftermarket cooler, clean off atop of the CPU with 99% industrial alcohol and a lint free cloth or coffee filter papers, if still untouched, fit the stock cooler, if needed clean off the heatsink in the same manner and reapply a fresh amount of thermal compound such as Arctic Silver 5 application guide at the link.

There should be four LEDs and from left to right starting with the one nearest to the 24 pin ATX socket the first one is for the RAM, the second the CPU, third VGA and fourth the boot device.

Which LED is lit up, what colour is it.

Sorry I meant the power indicator for the motherboard. I had someone test the PSU for me and I'm 70% sure it's broken.

I've gotten another one, I'll install it later today and let you know how it g oes.
